well ok hiding the guys who did the remixes is ok

but the track names too ?

i don`t think i can`t vote since i can`t compare most of the
tracks.

i`m not the super ae freak but after 6 tracks i think i
didn`t recognize a sigle one ;)

there`s a "`t" too much,
the one who finds it first gets a price :)

That's all I'm up to, didn't know any others.

i will not vote at this contest, it is the first one where i
don`t.
it sucks.

i wonder if i`m the only one having problems with it. right
now.

Well why not just vote on the track you like the
most? It wasn't a see-who-is-the-best-remixer competition. I
would say the tracks have already been through the "is it a
remix or not?" filter. All you need to do is commit to which
one you like the sound of best. Jeez, how hard can it be?

offline Sepix from Major City (Austria) on 2003-07-11 16:03 [#00774830]
Points: 3110 Status: Lurker

no

this isn`t a "wich track do you like most" competition. it`s
a remix competition.

of course the songs itself are interesting, some are
outstanding, but i want to be able to COMPARE.

offline xceque on 2003-07-11 16:05 [#00774832]
Points: 5888 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

So on what merits would you like to be judging the tracks?

(I agree it would be nice to compare, but I don't think it
should make a difference to your vote)

offline Sepix from Major City (Austria) on 2003-07-11 16:07 [#00774833]

i can`t vote for a remix i don`t recognize.
respect for everyone who is able to ...

o i don't give a fuck about song names. they melt when
carrved on plastic and put on a firre.

offline xceque on 2003-07-11 16:10 [#00774835]
Points: 5888 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

I don't understand why not.
Are you saying that you can't accept that it's a proper
remix unless you can tell what the original is? They
wouldn't have got this far if they weren't accepted as being
remixes.
Or do you feel that somehow the remixer might be cheating in
some way?

me ownz 15 autechre cd`s (on first count)
don`t listen them regularely, my mood and music wishes
changed a bit the last months/years

in general i hate it when i receive a remix and don`t know
the original; maybe thats whats brings me up

still, i won`t vote, even if i find a favourite track

how can you tell if it is a rremix? if you don't know the
song that is rremixed

what is a remix ?

a new track ? possible
a good track by a great artist ? hopefully ?

but still it is based on a track i, possibly, don`t know =
inpossible to compare

if it doesn`t count ok - gimme 15 random tracks i listen
them 1 time and tell you wich i like most

Well that's one of the points I was trying to make. It
shouldn't be an issue, whether you think it's a remix or
not. You're supposed to trust that the organisers of any
competition havesome sort of validation before approval and
accepting that they qualify for entry, so you shouldn't have
to consider it. Just accept that these are the ones you need
to choose from and vote :)

i don`t know if i understand anus right there - but he
speaks out my point.

xceque - if you really mean that = no remix competition.

it`s a "top xltronic" competition

i like to know the song that is rremixed, then i can say if
it is good orr not. it might be a good song in itself but a
shit rremix.

I think maybe we're misunderstanding each other cos I
honestly don't get why this is a problem :(
There's a competition and the judges decide if a remix is
eligible for entry, choose winners, and from those winners
the board members get to choose their favourite one. It
seems simple to me.

ok, it's not the way I would have done things, but I wasn't
on the voting team since I did remixes instead and can't say
for sure what the behind-the-scenes voting was done, but it
doesn't seem strange to accept the rules and cope with
them.

In the end it's up to you if you vote or not, but if a
crappy one wins by one vote I'm coming to blame you ;)

hmm thx anus - i thought i am the only one who got a problem
with that ...

ah however i got some free tracks i don`t kow from whom they

HEY - internet turned into commercial radio just this very
moment. include the news and i can delete all my other

I agree entirely. I'd love to know whay tracks they were
remixing and see if I can tell what bits have been used in
the remix; try to see how it was done or something. It'd be
really interesting, but I think that the shortlisted remixes
should stand on their own and be judged accordingly.
I've accepted that they are remixes and I can hear Autechre
parts in all of them, though I can't place which specific
tracks for all of them. Maybe that's why I don't have a
problem with them

yeah no problem, i`m used to be blamed *ggg*

and to be honest: i don`t give a fuck who remixed what and
who gets a blowjob for free, how the competition is going
and who wins.

but

a remix is a remix

and i will not point that out again.

As to whether voting should be based on how much work the
remixer did on the song or just how wicked it sounds
overall, that's a personal decision of the voter I guess.
But everyone knows sucess in the music industry mostly has
nothing to do with technical merit. Well, if you idea of
sucess is selling the most CDs that is.
