im pretty familiar with electronic music, but in terms of
the stuff that you guys call "noise", im afraid ive only
heard things from aphex twin and autechre. What bands would
you suggest checking out, and what are my chances of finding
this music on kazaa?

welcome. You are from chicago and i am not!

Merzbow = noize and that's about it.
Aphex = Chocolately goodness!

Hello, and welcome to the "Satellite of Love"...

oh wait..."XLTronic"...sorry...

Soulseek is the cool thing around here...just make sure you
have broadband...

I'm not a noise freak, so I'll have to pass on that
request...

Have fun. Don't feed trolls.

:)

Hi!

Fuck Kazaa, you need to get on Soulseek.

Don't worry aboutnot knowing what it is all about already.
It is great that you decided to check it out.

As regards noise...well, AFX and Ae would not qualify as
noise (ok, awright, AFX's latest work would ;)) but when
people reefer to noise...they are most often referring to
artists like Merzbow or :zoviet*France:. Give them a
listen.

You have a better chance of finding such music on Soulseek
than on Kaaza. Anyways...what do I know? Give it a go on
Kaaza, if you do not get it...you can always try getting it
from soulseek.

Noise music is overrated, even though I was into it for like
a week or so.
Merzbow, like everyone has said, is pretty much the
definitive godfather of the genre - - he pretty much sums up
the scene. I'm not personally familiar with any others, but
I think the Boredoms have some similar sounding stuff.
Autechre and Aphex Twin have moments which are not far off,
but there's so much more to them than Merzbow in my opinion.
Yeah, I give a heads up to ol' Masami for his innovation..
I enjoy listening to it sometimes for its sheer power. And
yes, despite its harsh sound it conveys a buttload of
emotion and angst. But when it comes to intelligence and
complexity in music, the noise he creates only goes so far..
i think it's limited. I mean, after you've explored every
tonality of radio static, what more is there to do?
Anyway.. buy some of it, but I'd pursue more traditional IDM
in the long term.

p.s. welcome to xltronic!

making sweet passionate love while listening to autechre?

keep in mind when i ask for good bands, im not just talking
about the noise genre. I'm just looking for any good bands
cuz i havent heard much due to the crappy selection of music
where i live

hahaha. good to know someone out there knows what i mean.
everyone out here listens to that painfully repetitive punk
stuff like Sum41 and NFG. I made a mix of all the fast
tracks on drukqs (11 songs), and titled it "the seizure".
Only 2 people actually enjoyed it out of around 20 people
that listened to it.

I play Venetain Snares at my work. I work at a gas station
so just imagine the little old ladies faces to hear
"Children's Limbo" or "Befriend A Child Killer"

hello and welcome to the board. I hope you'll like it here.
You should definitly try to find some squarepusher, if you
liked those fast tracks on druqks... i think you might also
love squarepusher. I started with the album Hard Normal
Daddy, and instantly fell in love with it :-D

Besides those three (afx, ae, squarepusher), i'd say Boards
of Canada & Plaid might also be considered "essential"...
you should at least check some of their tracks out.
