For a new taste sensation, try using Fruityloops as a VST inside Cubase.
Fruity granulizer, yum yum yum.

Now this is just fucking sick. I can load FM7 as a DXi inside Fruity as a VST inside Cubase.
I feel dirty

cubase seems to be too much for me - it is overwhelming when i look at its simple design which leaves me saying: "where the fuck is the step sequencer?!?!?"

Go to "inserts" in the midi track inspector, and choose "step designer".

But you are so much fucking better off learning to use the regler old midi editor. If you don't have a midi keyboard you grab the pen tool, drag an area in your midi track, then grab the arrow cursor again and double click the clip you just drew. Then you are in something that makes a step designer look like a retard playing a kazoo.

Read my last post - then you draw some notes, drag the lengths and pitches where you want them, then exit the midi piano roll and cut, drag and paste your pattern across a few bars,
It helps of course to have the track's midi channel and destination set so it will produce sound.

For some reason I have to use "microsoft midi mapper" as my out port instead of the native port on my sound card. And make sure you have midi through enabled if you're using an external midi keyboard with its own sounds.

the same can be said about cubase, confusing maybe for some at first but then it gets easy. My uncle taught me the basics, which was pretty easy to learn
