help me, some of you seem very bright and wise.

how do you tell a friend that you don't want to be his
friend anymore?
unless he does some serious soul-searching/self-revision?

my heart is breaking. I need advice.

i had the same situation a while ago
i did nothing ... i just didnt reply or call anymore and it
looks to be over now - it went pretty easy

If you want to tell him you don't want to be his friend any
more then you are not a friend to begin with.

Be like, *ahem* "I don't want to be your friend anymore
unless you do some serious soul-searching or self-revision."

lol

I think you can do it two ways.

One is the method mentioned above. Stop calling, making
plans, hanging out. When the friend calls, just act like
you feel, uninterested.

The other way is a confrontation, but I think people
understand that friends come and go, and change, and that
that is ok, and you aren't pulling any back stabbing shit or
anything, you two have gone different ways.

I'd keep it simple and just not really interact with the
person anymore, and if you are forced to, act like you feel,
indifferent and uninterested.

if he's on drrugs and being a prrick tell him strraight. but
if he needs you and you can't be arrsed, then i don't carre
do as you will.

Sleep with his girlfriend. That should do the trick.

if you want to end a friendship, or at least radically
change the nature of a friendship, all you have to do is
lovingly but firmly grip his genitalia.

so i guess we need more information about what's going on to
comment meaningfully on your situation. you may very well
have been the best friend that you could be, and yet have
reached the limits of your tolerance. anyone who has been
friends with people who are manipulative, violent, or have
certain personality disorders knows this.

i've had to do this twice, by the way. one was a chronic
liar who was frequently very disrespectful and may or may
not have assaulted his girlfriend, and the other asked me to
help him obtain some e so he could secretly dose a girl in
an attempt to exploit her sexually. as you get to know
people, you might get to know things that you can't accept,
and there's nothing wrong with moving on.

do not burden yourself with guilt or regrets.

Your first personal topic, and hopefully your LAST.

Ho ho ho, just joshin' ya. Hope you can jettison him with
little hassle/heartache. Just avoid him and do your own and
he'll get the message in due time, I've done that/had that
done to me before.

it's just so odd
we've been such good, firm friends since august when I moved
here
now he almost seems to be someone else...
I fear he's turning into someone I don't like

offline manticore from London (ON) (Canada) on 2003-06-26 23:53 [#00758747]

it's very simple really: approach it quite like a girl
unexpectedly and savagely dumping her boyfriend for
seemingly no apparent reason, though as a means to make it
all seem "better", as if no real harm is being done, instead
of the stereotypical breakup line of "i hope we can still be
friends", since this is not a relationship situation, just
say "i'm sorry. i don't think we ought to hang out anymore.
you're a cunted bastard! i hope i will never have to see the
likes of you again!" upon which you ougt to proceed to slam
the door shut in his face (if there is one available).

*spins around to face you in huge leather chair behind desk,
fingertips pressed together...*

How about a good, old fashioned homoerotic advance on his
person, thus scaring him away. If this backfires and he
happens to be gay though, you're fucked.

homoerotic would be hard to pull off
he's a man
I am a female

I'd have to go drag

The comedy value would be through the roof then :D

Seriously, in what way is he changing, do you just not like
the person he is becoming, or is just turning into a shit
anyway?
