i just wanted to post this after an mid-term exam i had
yesterday. I am working on a hybrid programatic park as
part of my master thesis in architecture, both the wireframe
and smooth images are what i have developed so far, in the
masterplan, to the left.

images here

ok i first see the images, i love the curling that was
involved, where it looks like 3/4 of a surfing wave, i nver
done that shit !!

and looked at the masterplan, what are you trying to achive
again? a hybrid programatic park...........please explain.

it looks great so far.

I thought you had finished... is this a doctorado or
something? or is it the final project of the degree?

recycle_the whole point by creating a hybrid programmatic
park is to subvert the idea of what is traditionally known
as "my territory" by creating a landscape that can be both
functional (programme=schools, hospitals, restaurants,
etc.), as well as recreational (sport courts, skateparks,
dirtparks, wall climbing elements, etc), without the use of
walls, only by folding and bending the surface which
contains them.

nacho_it is part of my masters in architecture, kind of a
post degree studies. we are suppossed to develop 3
projects, and this images reprazent 1/5 of the second one.

looks great
i really like the idea of a programatic park for everyone
to use, but it still seems like theres different defined
areas. I guess if it was more ambiguos to the separation of
spaces that could further push your idea.

have you seen greg lynns "cabrini green house competition"
piece?

Tthere`s one issue when working on this type of projects,
and that is that it has to be profitable. By making it "
free to use", you`re generating a conflict between
political-client decisions. In it`s
programme multiplicity it must have order, sectorization and
defined areas, otherwise, it can easily fall into "no-man`s
ground". The fact that it is located in a relatively
poor-uneducated area makes it even more delicate a subject,
since an un-controlled park could become a center for drug
use and theft.

its hard to form an opinion because i am not sure exactly
what a 'programatic park' is. what i get from your
explaination is that it is like a universal area or
structure that can be used for many different uses. like
how the same car chassi can be used to make a mini-van, an
SUV, and a sedan or something.

do you mean it could be used simultaneously as a hospital
and a skatepark? that seems a little far-fetched.

but then again, i studied molecular biology, not
architecture.

if you wanna know how mamallian cloning works, i'm your man.

"do you mean it could be used simultaneously as a hospital
and a skatepark? that seems a little far-fetched."

not quite my man. It is the same folded surface that can
contain them both, doesn`t mean that the park is literally
used as both, both activities co-exist on the same
topography.

Thats a good looking public space design...are you actually
gonna get it implemented? Interesting in the way you have
created spaces with no boundaries...it is like
bounded....but not.

Nice.

with no idea of the scale it looks like an airport from the
sky to me,

maybe if you included more details (people/trees?) it would
be more convincing as to what it actually is?

regards,
your un-interested bastard

werd, these are the boundaries of architecture one has to
work with. Architecture is definitly in an interesting
situation right now.... where do these newer conceptual and
provactive structures lie in terms of todays bourgoise
society... and how rational are all these "blob"
structures....things i think about often.
