Meinheld is reaaally great! For sure the best in all
Bilious Path album, and one of the best µ-ziq track of all
time.

Congratulations to Mike P., I can't stop to listen it...

I think Bilious Paths is a fantastic album full stop. Mike
has done what Richard Aphex hasn't managed... stay away for
some time and come back with a kicking record. I just can't
stop listening to Billious Paths. One of the albums of the
year for me so far.

meinheld is made from a bunch of hardcore drum loops off a
(now defunct) site called BassQuake

scathing but somewhat true. as much as i love drukqs,
bilious paths is a lot more creative and fresh sounding. and
let's not even talk about smojphace (blech! can't wait to
see the milk factory review of this one) and windowlicker
acid edit.

albums of the year so far for me are this one, prefuse,
blur, radiohead, massive attack, mogwai.

C+A+D: that's interesting.. how'd you find that out?

someone posted a whole load of quotes from mike p. on the
planet-mu phorum, for instance:

on/off features the vocal duties of mike dykehouse (mu
artist), and the nasty sound at the end is the planet-mu
logo loaded into metasynth

octopelogod is his remix of an Electric Company track.

grape nut beats vol.1 is a remix of some other track but i
dont remember which

lemme try and find a link

hmm, i felt the same when drukqs came out, and go plastic

wouldnt it be cool if rdj's and pusher's new albums would
keep the quality of their last ones
i almost cant imagine to expect anything better that bilious
paths tho - sounds so perfect
definitely my favourite album of the year!

From u-ziq:

1 JOHNNY MA(A?)STRICHT; basically a remix of "Get Wicked"
using the "Get Wicked" drums but none of the Get or Wicked
bits. Contains a (very small) Daniel Bedingfield sample,
spotters. Also vocal stabs from, Prince Far I, Blackman,
Devine & Essence and Bay B Kane. & The Amen Brother break.

2 MEINHELD; lots of hardcore drum breaks from a site called
Bassquake. Plus that sample from Higher State's "Listen Up".

3 SIEGE OF ANTIOCH; started out as a remix of "Full Sunken
Breaks" but got pretty twisted. The oldest track on here
('99). Only track done on the Atari (got the Mac Sept '99).
Mastered and twisted once I got the Mac though...

4 OCTELCOGOPOD; my remix of the Electric company track
(original on Exitos, remix on Greatest Hits). Edited
slightly.

5 ON/OFF; featuring Mike Dykehouse on vocal "duties".

6 SILK TIES; as featured on the b-side of Deathchant 30. An
edited and slightly tweaked version. Sample from Pumkin and
the Profile All-Stars "Here comes that beat". And some ragga
"come" sample. And a bit of Luke Vibert, spotters.

7 AEC MERLIN; just synthesizer, no samples.

8 GRAPE NUT BEATS 1; a remix of "Witch Hunt" by DJ Producer,
so it obviously contains samples from"Witch Hunt" by DJ
Producer. I said I'd only remix it if I could use it on my
album as well...

9 GRAPE NUT BEATS 2; pretty much entirely made of samples
from Psychotic Reaction; lots of garage breaks, amen break,
ragga vox, sound system things, etc.

10 MOUSE BUMS; based on the 'drums' track from my remix of
Mum. But altered quite considerably. No samples

11 FALL OF ANTIOCH; reprise of melody from SIEGE OF ANTIOCH

12 MY MENGEGUS; no samples, just RY30 drum machine and
synths.

i was kinda disappointed when i read the liner notes and
discovered a large # of these tracks are remixes of other
people.. i mean you don't release anything as mu-ziq for
several years then you put out previously released tracks
and music based on someone else's ideas? don't get me wrong,
the album is great, it's just shocking how much of the
material is refuse.

hmm, i dont really mind that...honestly, you can hear that
there are lots of samples on bilious paths that were heard
and used before, not that it matters tho, because it sounds
perfect the way it is

My favorite bit in Meinheld is at 1:24 when the cheesey
melody is playing and some really dark drums and synth come
in underneath.

about MEINHELD, I love the melody who starts at 1min 12" and
grows during the track.
Mike P. confirm to be a great melody music maker

Agreed, IMO Meinheld is by far the best track on Billious
Paths. Johnny Maastricht isn't too bad either though.

I'd have to say that Meinheld is the best track on the
album. So nicely evolving.

Metasynth can make "music" from pictures. its a synth for
Mac.
