FSOL/Amorphous Androgynous

I thought I'd share a bit of news here, for those who are
unaware...

After nine years of mysterious absence, the Amorphous
Androgynous album 'Environments', as advertised in the
'Lifeforms' sleeve, is finally being released! Supposedly
remastered with extra tracks (but who'd know?), it's to be
released later this year. Quite possibly it'll be
Lifeforms-ish, only darker and more abstract. But that's
just a guess.

And before that, we're to expect the first 'Future Sound Of
London' album since Dead Cities (bear in mind The Isness was
technically an Amorphous Androgynous album). Based on
samples and ideas from The Isness, it will infact be a more
electronic and typically FSOL-like album. Might restore the
hopes of a few fans. That's due out 'soon' (more details to
follow).

Also, there'll be an EP/single of 'Divinity', the second
single from The Isness, later this year.

This all followed next year by another Amorphous Androgynous
album of Isness-era tracks, and a possible best-of DVD
release makes this a rather exciting time for FSOL fans.

Rant over. ;)

Excellent news, purl!

Oh yeah, just realised how you know this...you run the
supremely excellent WTTGP.

Yes, I run WTTGP. :) I like to keep some of the forums I'm
on updated with things from time to time, so expect these
sort of posts occasionally. ;)

And yeah, I really can't wait for Environments. I've heard a
few sections from their early broadcasts, and the tracks are
very abstract, but excellent.

Mm, yeah, SAWII is my second favourite ambient album (behind
Lifeforms, of course). Love it.

Damn...Environments is definitely good news...though I did
not quite like Tales of Ephidrina all that much and
absolutely hated The Issness. But I love all of FSOL's work
till now...and so I'll still believe that something good
will come with the Lifeforms era tracks.

Thanx for the good news, purl.

Favourite tracks?

(Off lifeforms and SAWII)

Mine:
Lifeforms:

Cascade
Dead Skin Cells
Eggshell
Among Myselves
Domain
Omnipresence
Room 208

Oh yeah. Just a note: I played Lifeforms for my aunt, and
she's an underwater photographer. She absolutely
loved it, she thought the creativity there was
wonderful.

She also loved The Isness...

SAWII:
Cliffs
Rhubarb
Ropes/Curtains (trk 6)
Tree
White Blur 1
Blue Calx
Z Twig
Hexagon
Lichen
Matchsticks

Favourites from Lifeforms?
Cascade, Ill Flower, Dead Skin Cells, Eggshell, Domain,
Vertical Pig, Cerebral, Omnipresence...that's a hard one,
though.
Favourites from SAWII?
Rhubarb, Grass, Blue Calx, Windowsill, Lichen,
Matchsticks...and probably some more. I'm not as good at
seperating the tracks out on the album as I am with...well,
any FSOL release. I know pretty much all of their tracks
inside out. ;)

heh...yar. I can imagine! :)

I really need to boost my Autechre collection though...I
only have Peel Sessions 2 and Chiastuc Slide at the
moment...

Incunubula will be next.

Hahaha. Sorry. Disregard this thread. Turns out someone
managed to post as Forum Admin on the official site. None of
this is true. Bugger.

Autechre? Chiastic Slide is the only album I don't have,
actually...

i think there's gonna be another single - the divinity bit
was correct at least

Indeed, indeed. Divinity is going to be a single, and there
will be a FSOL album to follow, with another Amorphous
Androgynous album after that.

However, Environments isn't being released after all, nor is
the FSOL album promised to be 'soon'.

The Isness was a definate creative step backwards.
Too much sitar and awful pointless vocals spoiled what WAS
good on it.

It cost me £16.99 and after 3 listens I took it back and
swopped it for.. wait for it..

Lifeforms (£10.99)
Dub Fever (£3.99)
Crucial Dub (£3.99)
Latter two by King Tubby.

Given that the crabby Isness had just over an hour of music
for the rip off £16.99 and the other three all last for
well over an hour each, I was fucking pleased I did.
