Does this ever bother you? There is some amazing stuff by
even well known artists (as far as electronic artists go)
like Aphex Twin and Autechre that is really amazing, but was
only available on super-limited edition vinyl. I can't
figure out why they'd not want to make it more widely
available... With Aphex Twin, it's possible that he just
doesn't care, but I would think more artists would
re-release it once they get bigger as a service to the fans.
Even if they did not want to do it as a service to the fans,
they could do it for the extra money! :) Is there some
obvious reason they don't that I'm missing? Thanks!

- the labels are small. making records cost money. and yes,
500 copies cost less to press than 5000.

- the audience for these records is relatively small. again,
we're talking about small labels - you want a number you are
sure to be able to sell.

- on re-realising - artists move on. they'd rather spend
time on making new stuff instead of rehashing older work.
and maybe, they just don't like their old stuff that much
anymore.

mabey it's the mystique that surrounds rare and much sought
after stuff, they kinda lose some of that when they get
re-released. I definetly know what your saying though,
aphex would probably make a lot more money and props from
his fans if he were to say re-dub the Hangable Auto Bulb
ep's instead of releasing the bad joke which is smojphace.
That's just my opinion of course, but I have the feeling
many others share it.

Bradley's robot
Gak
q-chastic
Universal Indicator

From Autechre
Cavity Job
radio mix

We R Why

Gescom
The sound of machines our parents used
Gescom EP 1-2
Keynell Remixes
This
Dual purpose
(I actually have motor, that, ISSA and Keynell)

From Mu-ziq
anything tusken raiders or Diesel M

Squarepusher
Stereotype
crot
I am carnal
Squarepusher plays
buble and squeak
Dragon Disc 2

If anyone knows of a Best buy where I can get this stuff,
don't hesisitate to let me know! :)
Squarepusher was on to something when he re-released
Conumber and his other spymania stuff as Burning 'n' Tree
except he fooled me because I bought conumber off of ebay
not knowing I had it... and it gets stuck playing too...
That's why I like to have it all on CDs! I mean, if they
re-released all of this stuff, it'd sell pretty much as well
as all their new stuff, so they could make some money. I
understand why they have limited pressings when they are not
as popular, but now that they are, they should do us fans
(or their pockets) a service and re-release this stuff!

you are asking for limited number releases
some of the afx are 4 copies or 10 copies

but
afx:
ABB...also get them on classics
the rest of the stuff you wanted are crap..ioncluding
ABB..classics are just bullshit
you can find those stuff on SLSK so check them out on mp3
before you spend your money

thats why they didnt print lots of those albums/Eps you
need
they are CRAP!!!!
also check out
AFX

AE: get some at warp or HEAR it there too
warp site
AE info
AE discography

From Aphex Twin
Analogue Bubblebath 2, 5 - 2 can be picked up 2nd hand
reasonably easily, 5 is VERY limited if it was ever released
properly (which i doubt, others on this board will know more
than me tho)
Hangable Autobulb 1,2 - ebay only
Bradley's Beat - no chance, ebay only
Bradley's robot - no chance, ebay only
Gak - may be available 2nd hand, not too rare.
q-chastic - v.v.v.v.v.v.v. limited
Universal Indicator - which ones? cd is still available thru
rephlex
Gescom
Gescom EP 1-2 - again v tricky (i have them though (blag
boast))
Keynell Remixes - try warpmart

I've heard all the stuff I mentioned, and it's all
incredible! I'd like to support the artist if I buy it, not
some reseller on ebay.... I'm intrigued about Universal
Indicators being available. I'd be interested in getting any
of them. I thought they were all vinyl only. Where do I get
these CDs? Rephlex.com doesn't look like they sell
anything...

I didn't know analogue bubble bath 2 was easy to find. I'll
have to look for that. Keynell Remixes is not available on
Warpmart...

"I'd like to support the artist if I buy it, not

You'll have to get those releases second-hand though........

i get the impression that a lot of these limited artists
dont really care that much about the money...otherwise maybe
they would be telling the smaller labels to fuck off and
parading themselves in front of warp or even bigger labels.

I'm sure they wouldn't refuse the offer if Warp asked to
sign them up though....

true, this is a good point. in fact, lots of them are
probably parading around for warp.

What I was trying to say is that I'd like them to re-release
them so I don't have to get them second hand.

doing a parade may also mean, that artists dont show how
much their sell limit is. just a certain number which makes
sure every record is grabbed out of their hands is released
to make them look good? this actually was pretty stupid.

may it be like with books, a first pressing and when that is
sold out another pressing goes away in that same year or
so..?

Gobal Goon said hed release 1000 copies right away and 2000
straight after if i remember right.
