if you take the song "star guitar" by the chemical brothers
apart it actually is similar in many ways to starman by
bowie. i think they fust ripped the song appart and welded
back together (notation and structure wise)

am i right or is it just my imagination?
anyone know of similar tracks?

Well they make no bones about it. 'Setting Sun' was actually
inspired by The Beatles' 'Tomorrow Never Knows' and 'Song To
The Siren' actually samples This Mortal Coil's version of
'Song To The Siren'....so this wouldn't be their first
straightforward rock influence.

Anyways, isn't the rock&roll influence a big part of their
schtick?

Those kind of tracks can be intended as a Homage or tribute
to the artist tho , but mostly its just rippoffs .

About every new "club anthem" is a ripoff of
Daft punks sound. Discovery had a massive effect on todays
club tunes.

There is this moment on a track on Proem's "Among Others" EP
where he stretches a sound and it sounds identical to the
sounds right before []pusher's "Port Rhombus" on Big Loada
