Didn't hear too much about that album...so I just let it
lie. I guess I'll get down to listening to it sometime in
the near future. I really like her work with Portishead,
though.

saw 2 and icbyd are my old essay writing albums, staying up
all night drinking coffee, writing shit for school.

i have done some ambient/noise tracks to help me sleep: i
program a playlist of loops and let it play at a low level
and when i wake i feel very refreshed: however it needs to
be used via headphones only

I have heard only one Ryuichi Sakamoto album. I think it was
called 'Beauty'. Great work there...cinematic/world-music.
Is the rest of her work just as good ?

Listen to Arthur Russell - 'World of Echo'. A late night
listening masterpiece!

Just check this review I found at tigersushi.com

The ethereal and hardly decipherable pop of World of Echo
ultimately proves one of cunning seduction. Layered in dub
effects, cello tricks and approximative drums, Arthur
Russell's gasps, hushes and inflexions define a comatose,
impressioniste pop music of unique inspiration. The voice of
sorrow and unuttered regrets, Russell develops each theme
over a repetitive pattern of many cello "touches" without
ever resorting to pose or artifice. The blurry delimitations
set forth on Tone Bone Kone or in an edgier fashion on She's
the Star... are that of a music concerned, as leftfield
disco was, with the emotional impact of each and every
sound, thus letting it linger, dilute and diffuse for the
sake of greater persuasion. Hence, despite its munched up
one liners, World of Echo is a superb songwriting success as
each track, when played, is whispered directly into your
brain.

I couldn't have put it better myself!

RECOMMENDED!
