theres a couple of pics of rdj on the sonar website
performing his thang. nothing special but they are here
(clicky 13 by night).

i'd love to have the software that he used to reverse the
track for a few beats during his set.

is the set on soulseek yet?

me

Afx was OK, but it sounded alot
like his ATP-set if you ask me.
It's kinda boring to hear stuff like
"Jesus Loves the Acid" and other old
stuff over & over again :-(

Jamie Lidell was really nice! He rocked
the place! Amazing what he does live!
I liked Bjork, Krush, Vadim,
Jagga Jazist, Deadbeat...
Neutrino really sucked!! One of the
worst things I've ever heard!
Too bad his set was before Afx :-(

yeah i was forced into sitting through the last 20 minutes
of oxide/neutrino and it was shit. i didn't think much of
bjork really.

you see christ?

haven't seen christ.
Don't know him actually, any good?

I was wondering... Is sonar every year
at tesame locations in Barcelona?

he was a collaborator with BoC in the early days apparently
and it was obvious from the stuff he played. and yes it was
very good. theres an ep called pylonesque out there by
him.

it is every year, but the location was different this year.
last year they had it on a beach which was ace but got
totally over run by gatecrashers. i think the venues vary.
i went to one of the 'private' parties on the thursday night
after herbert had finished and the venue was ace, it wasn't
used otherwise though.

"last year they had it on a beach which was ace but got

it was on a beach? was this during the day then, because i
went to it last year on one of the nights, i think the last
one and it was at that massive hall place, montjuic
something or other.

Thanks!

i wasn't there last year but my mate who lives in barca told
me this little fact last week.

it must have been the daytime stuff i'm pretty sure they
couldn't have had as many people as they had this year on a
beach at night.

oh, i see :-)

compared to last year's festival it was overcrowded. way to
many people. i wonder if it will take place in that museum
again. space there is really limited.

i tried to see miss kittin - but no chance. too many people
there...

btw: did you see underworld? i don't know but i found it
somehow boring. it's so 90s! they are the equivalent to US
stadium-rock... disappointig....

i did see underworld and yeah i tend to agree with you. its
nothing special these days, it was back in 1996 when born
slippy was about, but no more. crowd liked it though so at
least they got a good atmosphere going for the nite.

couldn't believe how packed miss kittin was, it was insane,
i had to watch from the steps at the back of the stage where
it was 4 bgillion degrees.

i think i'll be going to sonar next year too. it's some kind
of tradition ;-) but next year we will have to get our
tickets in advance. to shrink the whole day-festival would
be a good idea ....

maybe air con?

they need to sort out the people that put those bnads on to
reduce poeple in the daytime. it was piece of piss to get
people in, they put those bands on so loosely that we were
able to sneak a few extra people in by just taking them off
and passing them to others outside. i bet loads of other
people did the same.

I think I'm gonna go next year also,
Even if the line-up really sucks,
(I have my doubts about that :-)
Barcelona is still a great place to hang out...

how was matthew herbert big band?

hellfish was great by the way.

matthew herbert was really good. i was very suprised. the
first 2 or 3 tracks were a bit noodly and dull but after
that they seemed to get on a bit of a roll. the band used
the herbert sound a bit more and really went for it.

the combination of herberts click house beats with a jazz
band was suprisingly good and the last 3 or 4 tracks had
everyone out of their seats dancing.

i think that i'll even go ahead and buy the album now.
it'll never sound as good at home but it'll remind me about
a great gig. the acoustics in l'auditoria were amazing
too.

i can recommend you go and see them on if they do any dates
in your neck of the woods.
