hi peeps, just thought i'd share this dilemma we are facing
at the moment,
as some of you might know, i do a pirate radio show, and we
are being fucked over, please read on,

>11th June 2003, Amsterdam

>This is a call to all Free Radio makers, listeners and

Zerobase's nasty little brother
>"Project Etherflits", an initiative of the Department of
>Economic Affairs, has since March of this year been
>pro-actively identifying and tracking "illegal"
>broadcasters throughout the North and East of the country,

>confiscating studio equipment and imposing large fines.
>Many stations have already been forced off the air.
>Recently strong rumours have been circulating that the
>mayor of Amsterdam has granted permission to use police
>and riot-control forces to get rid of the city's Free
>Radio stations - Radio 100, Radio Patapoe and Radio de
>Vrije Keyser. Although Free Radio culture in the
>Netherlands has a long history and remains innovative,
>popular and highly valued as an important cultural and
>political resource, Free Radio is neither public or
>commercial. Thus, under the Zerobase legislation these
>stations will never be granted a legal broadcasting
>permit. Nowhere in Europe have legislators been so blind
>to active, independent radio-making culture. This needs to

>be changed.
>
>During its twenty-five years of existence Dutch Free Radio

wilcoooo, i'm an english expat and this happened to us in
england too, our old pirate stations are now commercial
stations playing the same playlist day in day out.

its just so frustrating fighting THE MAN for a bit of
artistic freedom

have you ever seen how those pirate stations have been
stopped?
with 20 cops or more and you'll have to pay a big fine and
all your equipment will be taken in because you want to
entertain people with music??!!

and we've had to take our equipment home straight after,
thats how i'm doing this email now, going back to the
benefit night soon.

Another example of governments fucking us over taking away
freedoms and taking corporate cock up the ass. This kind of
thing is becoming almost continual now, you hear about shit
like this every day.

Sooner or later something's going to give...

what about internet radio phiz? Besides, as far as I'm
concerned, the radiostations that I know of already play the
same disposable happy horseshit day in and out anyway. But
then, I'm blessed with a CD player at work so I don't have
to put up with that shit

internet radio is exactly the same, allthough you are
allowed to set up what you want.

its just advertising and promotion that pushes the cheddar
to the front.

its tough now just to get on the normal airwaves.
thers people with no computer who still rely on radio for
enjoyment

this is a killer man, we've got to be on our gaurd properly
now.
grands worth of equipment could be seized, all our tunes.

just for having a fuckin buzz and hopefully giving other
people pleasure too

I can't wait till there's "proper" internet radio. I
envisage basically entering an IP into a "tuner" just like
you'd use to pick up normal radio. There would be no
screens/messing about with codecs, just info like track
playing scrolling on the screen. You'd be able to listen in
the car, on your hi-fi and on your PC. Sort of digital radio
via the internet.
