What news is that? I've been living under a makeshift rock
lately.

brain wilson is touring the world, and the purpose of the
concerts is to play the unreleased "smile" album in its
entirety. then he's gonna release a live album of the
touring, picking a song per date, i guess. and the rumors
are that this may be all to herald in an actual release of
the actual album itself. JOY!

Awesome! I doubt it'll be the 100% real-deal that he
intended decades ago though. Still, that's great news. I was
listening to Vege-tables just an hour ago, cosmiiiiicccc.

yeah, i doubt it will be exactly as intended during the
sessions some 30 years ago, but it'll be as close as we'll
ever get. and i'm sure, just getting to hear some new/old
beach boys will be a monumental treat for us fans.

And how the fuck would he even KNOW what he ''intended''? He
was messed up when he was making up, got messed-up-er
afterwards, and is currently messed up. And half of the
other Beach Boys are pushing up daisies in pine boxes. I
hope he kept some great records of his Smile studio exploits
so he'll have a good enough clue...

im sure he did. he seems a little more with it nowadays.
still TERRIBLY uncomfortable, but better. if they DO finish
and release the old recordings, hopefully it'll be as good
as "real love" or "free as a bird", y'know what i mean?

they certainly do.

hey, are you doing the new comp?
i didnt get a form from you, and i was almost certain you
would be on it. anyway; if not, dont worry. i understand
teapot is putting together something right now, and i dont
want to steal his people. hehehe

I didn't like Free as a Bird... John's voice is really poor
in it and Jeff Lynne's production is totally NOT
Beatle-esque. Even Abbey Road with the orchestras and exotic
instrumentation had an earthy feel, FAAB sounds almost like
cheesy arena rock, overproduced and with those MASSIVE
drums. It wouldn't have fit on any Beatles album.

Real Love on the other hand... one of my favorite Beatles
songs, they really got it together for that one (aside from
the drums, again). Would have fit on Abbey Road's first
side.

I think Brian would keep it simple though, plus the songs
must have already had set arrangements... as long as he
doesn't try to ''modernize'' it too much.

yeah, if he keeps it old school, it should rock. if he tries
to "kokomo" it out, it'll suck.

PS: i know he had nothign to do with that song, but i hate
sssoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
it oooooooooooooo much.

No i don't, so may I suggest you refrain from using your "oh
