I think Bilious Paths is a glorious return to form for Mike
P...expecially track 8, it is an absolute monster.

I have never been a major Mike P fan but this release is
worth every penny of my cash.

It's a pity he's a disagreeable untrustworthy namedropper
with the conversational skills of a human stool sample.

Mike P is definitely within the top 3 alternative electronic
music artists alongside Aphex and Squarepusher.

Like Ecnadniarb, I've never been a huge M-ziq fan, but
Bilious paths is great.

I'll pick this up at the end of the month.

i was more impressed with bilious paths than i was with
druqs, tho i do admit there are twice as many tracks on
druqs

this album gets better with each listen... i can't say i've
liked anything by Mu-Ziq in the past as much as i like
this... this is one of the loveliest releases of the year...
and there's been lotsa lovely...

I have the whole album now, I've listened to grape nuts
beats pt 1, and the first two tracks. this album FUCKING
ROCKS! song 2 (Meinheld) is so fucking awesome... I can't
wait to hear the rest.

It's a good album, but none of the other tracks are up to
the standard of Meinheld in my opinion.

i just received the album today (mommy went to the uk and
bought back some goodies), like everyone says, meinheld is
pretty much the standout track however aec merlin has got
this lovely quality about it, it's doing that nostalgia
thing with me

offline Zephyr Twin from ΔΔΔ on 2003-11-20 12:27 [#00958572]

haha, funny you should mention that because aec merlin just
came on, so far I like it a lot, but yeah, most of the other
tracks don't really stand out as much as I hoped... =|

I've gradually gotten to know the album over the last 6
months... I haven't been enarmoured enough with it to have a
''phase'' where I couldn't stop listening to it, but it's a
decent enough album to give a spin to every once in a while.
I just don't like it nearly as much as Royal Astronomy and
Lunatic Harness though. Has the same sense of fun in places
though, I love that with Mike P.

offline ecnadniarb on 2003-11-20 12:49 [#00958611]

For me it isn't a phase album. Like BoC MHTRTC I couldn't
stop listening to that for weeks. Bilious is the type of
album I pick up once in a while (normally while not looking
for it), putting it on, and pretty much enjoying it from
beginning to end.

offline Zephyr Twin from ΔΔΔ on 2003-11-20 12:50 [#00958612]

Meinheld, Fall of Antioch, and My Menegegus are really cool,
but I liked pretty much all of what I heard. Not the
greatest melodies in some of it, but Mike P. definately
knows how to pick cool ass sounds, and im a PHREAK for that
shiet.

Two best tracks = Meinheld and My Menegegus IMO.

its a brilliant album

i was a little disapointed after hearing couple of original
tunes tho, i was thinking paradinas added much more of his
work to those tracks, but apperantly he didnt change them
that much...it doesnt make album any less good tho!

offline Ophecks from Nova Scotia (Canada) on 2003-11-20 12:59 [#00958630]

Yeah, probably... I guess that would explain everything! :-p
And it was a grower too.

Either way, it wasn't a disapointment but it wasn't a
pleasant surprise for me either. 3.5/5.

i really think meinheld in itself would justify the purchase
of this album (that shit is seriously crazy good), though I
didn't buy the album so I could be wrong.

Billious is good but not great. Certainly not Mike P's best.
Tough to class what is his best. I'd still think I'd say all
round that 'Lunatic Harness' is pretty close to his best
record. The Jake Slazenger records have always been personal
favs too.
