Oh No..........

I think he needs to get off this trip he's on...Man to me
Dave sounds a bit pissed off for no real reason...
Him and Martin need to go bowling or something, get thier
shit back together before all hell breaks loose....

=(

honestly, i hope martin does not allow dave to be involved
in the songwriting too much. paper monsters is kinda crappy
to me.

if that means dm split, then be it. i'm sure their best time
is behind them anyway...

after songs of faith and devotion it's been all downhill.

shit, i would say keep things like they are! i bought paper
monsters, and it sucked a big one. the only memorable track
was dirty sticky floor, and even that sounded like something
that i would have scrapped if i was him.

anyhow, i have always wondered this: what exactly was
alan's role in things when he was in the band? i thought
that martin gore wrote everything, but people make a huge
deal out of that guy...and i'll admit, recoil is pretty kick
ass at times.

Mode dont need Alan. He co-wrote a lot of stuff but Martin
Gore writes some excellent stuff. I always treat the Mode
albums as the last one from them - there is always some shit
going around :)

i hear ya. i thought it would be all over with ultra -- and
i thought to myself, well thats a decent one to go out
with...then came exciter....

huh? i thought paper monsters was pretty good, hidden
houses, bottle living and teh last track are excelent. I
didn't think much of it at first but its a real grower.

it's not for the songwriting i want alan back. martin could
probably handle that himself.

from what i know, alan worked mostly with "soundscapes" and
arrangements.

rumours say alan actually finished the work on "songs of
faith and devotion" himself while the others went on
vacation right after the recording sessions were done.

btw... does anyone know what alan is up to right now? it
doesn't say much on recoil.co.uk.

I say close down Depeche Mode... it's time now!

i agree... it would be good timing to split the band now.
rather than trying to make another, presumably, crap album.

i think thats a bit harsh, Exciter proves they can still
make great albums and it would be interesting to see how it
would turn out with Dave Gahan having more of an influence.

ok, maybe i was exaggerating a bit there. exciter is not
that bad actually... but still their worst album, imho.

i'm not saying speak & spell and a broken frame are great
albums, but they still have some good tracks and lots of
charm in a way.

Well, I don't think Martin Gore would risk fucking up what
he have achived with Depeche Mode by letting Dave in on the
songwriting...not by this stage....

Worst case scenario would be if Martin quit and the rest of
them went on as Depeche Mode :D Jeeezezz!

Dave is let in on the song wrritting alot.

i doubt Dave Gahan would "fuck thigs up". From the majority
of reviews i've read on both their recent albums the
majority of people said the Dave Gahan one was the only one
worth owning.

no. so far, dave has NOT been involved in any songwriting
for dm even though he has wanted it. martin has even told
dave how he should sing the songs.(according to recent
interviews with dave)

ehhehehe

guess my crystal ball was RIGHT! eh?

someone doesn't market himself as the 'FORMER' lead singer
of Depeche Mode if they are happy with the band =0)

i hope they work things out too, they still make good music
IMO. i try to experience each album on it's own merit, not
compare it to previous ones. sometimes change is
good.......and well sometimes NOT =b

yeah he has quite an influence in the song wrriting. taken
forr example SOFAD which was grreatly influenced by all the
guitarr music he was listening to in his rrock faze.

the same day!

i just heard the junkie xl track called "reload" featuring
dave gahan on vocals. it's truly great. much better than
every track on paper monsters. not just the music, but also
the way dave is singing (or how his voice is processed, who
knows?).

what are peoples favourite tracks on Paper Monsters?

Im going to see him live next month, hoping it will be good.
I really like the album, that last track almost sounds like
a massive attack song.

wait and buy it, thanks anyway bud!! :) i hope it didn't
come out the wrong way cos i'm excited to hear it (on cd).

if you wanna play paula and i in iSketch look for a room
