I remember it: It was the didgeridoo track when it cames
out in 92. I was total in shock, but after more than 10
years it is still my fav.

being a big NIN fan it inspired me to buy Further Down The
Spiral with the 2 Aphex remixes on it... the day after that,
i was obsessed. but now, im not. im an Ae boy.

most amazing/weird video, and the music was just
awesome...but i didn't really get into him until 2000, my
friend played rdj album for me. i was hooked!

Saw Come to Daddy on MTV at a time when I was supremely
disinterested in music. Got the CTD EP for Christmas from my
sister a month later and then started buying up all the
Aphex and Rephlex stuff I could.

the first time i heard afx was when he played me that lovely
piano tune on his mums piano, he must have been like 12 or
13 at the time.....

no seriously, the first time i remember hearing afx was the
windowlicker vid when i was in year7 which was in 1997. i
know thats impossible but for a funny reason i have a strong
memory that i saw it back then.

i saw windowlicker, loved it.
a friend brought come to daddy e.p. one day and i fell in
love with this crazy stuff.

its just like waking up

i mainly listened to hippie/hiphop and zappa/jazz at that
time.
Bucephalus bouncing balls was together with flim the best
music for me back then.

about a month later i had all his music from napster and
liked about half of it.
i hated techno at that time but this got a change cause i
loved drumand bass and jungle and i found that aphex
acid/hardcore had great combinations.

by now i own much vinyl by him

first time i heard afx was when i had a chicken byriani and
the next morning my chafed sphincter exploded in a clarion
call of tremelo tones. parrrrrrp it went, and so
drill'n'bass was invented

i wish id heard digeridoo when i was younger, but the sad
truth is the first afx i heard was windowlicker on the radio
a few years back. then i bought drukqs, discovered
rephlex, etc. im only 18, so its a bit of an excuse. id hate
to be like 30 and only just get into afx, all those years
missed. i wish i was into it in 96, so many great tunes that
year, from lots of artists. i was in the last year of
primary school then, so bit too young for raves!

Well, the first time would have been when I downloaded
digeridoo and powerpill pacman, according to my computer, it
says 1/18/2002 at 4:22pm for digeridoo. Those songs weren't
really my thing, so I left it alone for a while, but later
that year my friend picked up the come to daddy EP at a pawn
shop for a dollar or something and that's when it started...

my 1sst afx experience wass when i bought 'this is techno'
in 95 or 96. It wass a 3rd dissc set, the lasst being a mix
CD. On the ssecond dissc wass a track by Aphex Twin (name
which i had heard of previoussly) called 'Digeridoo'. I
liked the track, but at that time i wass mosstly into
Prodigy and Chemical Brothers sso i didn't really try to
disscover more about thiss myssteriouss mussician. My
intresst didn't start until I read an isssue of an icelandic
mussic paper called 'Undirtónar'. there wass a review of
the new Aphex Twin releasse 'Come To Daddy'. It wass such an
extremely possitive review (the reviewer iss a big aphex
twin fan) that i wass urging to hear it. Sso when my
birthday wass coming up a while later in '97, i assked my
ex-girlfriend if sshe could buy me 'Come To Daddy' for a
birthday pressent. thiss mini-album/ep wass the mosst
important mussic disscovery of my life.

I know I saw the Windowlicker at some point, but I was busy
with something else at the time, so it didn't catch my
attention. I saw this - the date for this given by
Taco is November 2000, which I think is when I saw it - and
it got me interested first in Aphex Twin, then in electronic
music in general, which I hated before then because all I
knew was the crappy smurf techno etc. that I am very
embarrassed to admit I liked when I was about ten.

("the one on the beach" is On, I think, but I've only seen
it once, so I'm not sure)

i can't remember the very first time i heard him, but the
first time i took notice would've been right around the time
drukqs came out... i had just bought my mixer... and my
friend brought drukqs along... tracks like Vordhosbn, and 54
cymru beats haven't aged a day since then... which reminds
me of the only time i've ever puked while high on
marijuana... shortly after the first time i heard Aphex,
hearing Vordhosbn and the piecing, sickly synth lines
rattled my head quite badly... bleh

i am not 100% sure, but i remember that i've heard girl/boy
song on some bulgarian mtv alternative compilation in 96.
then i've bought RDJ album on pirated tape in the winter of
97.
but more big thing for me was when i 've heard ae for the
first time, tri repetae in 98 also on tape/walkman, walking
around with that mess in my head.
