It's strange that there are so many Radiohead fans here, considering they steal all their best idea's from AFX and Autechre...

well, Ok Computer is arguably Radioheads best album... and it was released before the whole Warp influence on them... I assume anyways... and I wouldn't call it stealing... it's an influence... everyone is influenced by something... so if you call influence stealing, then everyone steals...

was my fave for a really really long time....only recently upstaged by Kid A. Amnesiac and OK Computer run neck to neck.
Especially the the beginning of Airbag with those giant dissonant chords, the ending of Karma Police and the strings of Climbing The Wall. Exit is probably the song that really gets me everytime though. God...just talking about it I realise how much love it.

I also reckon OK computer's their best... the first track on Kid A is such a blatant AFX rip off that it kinda put me off them... specially because they always seem to get more credit and respect than any IDM people do... don't you think?
Stealing/borrowing is fine though... everythings been done!

this was one of those albums where basically each song was at sometime my favorite from the album... my goodness I listened to this one so much, I no every sound and nuance... unfortunately it might bore me a bit because of that, but it's still quite good!

Well, it is not like guys at Warp have no external influences.
Squarepusher is a Miles Davis rip off. Ae are Tod Dockstader rip-offs. Black Dog are Derrick May rip-offs. Seefeel were Slint ripoffs. Derrick May was a Krafetwerk rip off.
So you see, finger pointing influences as ripping off could go too far.

yeah, it is kind of rediculous to label Radiohead as the inventors of this music... they were almost considered that... but that's not their faults really... they were just blending stuff they liked with what they were doing, and I'm sure they hated all that praise they were getting... but see, they're going to be labeled as such, because they're popular... they're a popular band in the public eye, so more people hear what they do...

Funny that a steadfastly left-of-center album of theirs should get them so much popularity. I am sure they were trying to rid themselves of fans after OK Computer. Kid A misfired badly in that regard.

Yeah, I see what youre saying, but theres a difference... Autechre are influenced by Dockstader... the stuff they produce sounds very different though... as with the others you mentioned... whereas that Radiohead track I mentioned sounds EXACTLY like afx...

I think Radiohead are a good Rock band... but I feel they could be a lot more interesting if they didn't already have a rock fanbase... to change the subject, has anyone heard Clue to Kalo? I really like that... I kind of feel like Radiohead should sound more like that.

well, I think they lost some fans, but gained a hell of a lot... people who were into electronic type music probably started listening to Radiohead after... me however, was definitely not into any electronic music at the time... I was basically a pure rock listener... but I just loved Kid A upon first listen!

I always found it funny that Kid A debuted at #1... heh, no videos or singles, and hardly any interviews... just those blips...
I guess it was mostly because of who they were... I'd really love to see how the sales of Kid A faired in the following weeks... as people began to listen, I'd love to see if there was a dramatic drop in sales, or what...

nod, and then the Strokes are praised... not that I like Lenny Kravitz or anything, but he was always slagged for his music because it was too retro... and recently the strokes have been praised for it... stupid really...

I've actually gotten fairly bored of it. Still one of the best albums I've ever heard, but I find it grating to listen to now. But I'm sure I'll come around to it again and get nice and acquainted with it eventually.
