midi controllers - need help

so, i'm have been making music on my pc for about 1 year
now, and i really wanna spend some money on a neat midi
interface.
i searched the net today for midi controllers, but i
couldn't found anything really useful. i don't even know how
much a simple controller costs.
i would want to have one with about 10 knobs and 5 sliders.
that would be okay.

i even thought about making one myself, but www.ucapps.com
is a bit difficult for me. maybe there are some other
sites?

so, tell me everything you can about midi controllers.
prices, sites, links or e-mails where i can ask for help.

thank you very much

thanks. maybe at making a song, this isn't so important.
but i played with ableton live today, and it's nearly
impossible to change all options in so short time with a
mouse !

Edirol PCR30/50 have 8 of each too (I think).

Argh! ;)
Well in that case I think Doepfer make great gear like
Pocket Control (16 knobs) and Pocket Fader (16 faders).

try www.doepfer.de

i've never seen a midi knob box that comes equipped with
sliders. Do they exist? I second the Midiman Radium.
Eight knobs, eight sliders, USB = no pesky power cables.

i'm looking at the korg microKORG, and it's a neat little
synth, but can be used as a midi controller as well.
probably not the same but i thought i'd throw it out

microKORG

yeah also the mackie control surfaces are good, with lots of
DAW integration. I use the evolution MK249C midi keyboard
with about a dozen assignable pots, which was cheap and is
also a keyboard! ive been using pcs for a while and i have
to that a hardware midi interface is a must. for all the
advantages of software, id much rather have real hardware,
purely for tweakability and routing possibilities.

I use a Phatboy. No longer the best budget one, but very
robust and I'm happy with it. I'll probably get a controller
keyboard with a few knobs on it at some point and use both
at once.

more10: You have no idea how much I wanted the drehbank :)

24 knobs...I'll see if I can find it

save yourself the hassle of this and just buy a 16 channel
mixer and about 4 soundcards or just get a pci adat card and
a digital mixer with adat inputs. 1 fibre optic cable
carries 8 audio data streams. pricey though:)

That's all I could find off the top of my head... I know
there's a really cool mouse type thing that has 2
programmable jog wheels and a handful of buttons which you
could use

Making MIDI controllers... rawr... I know there's a company
that offers packages to build your own, I'm taking an
electronics course next quarter to learn how to do stuff
like that, maybe I'll put up a guide or something for
