Come To Daddy EP

Sorry, but it just never struck me!

Some stuff from classics is hardly worth a second listen. It
is quite like generic belgian hardcore stuff... early
hardcore rave stuff. Ofcourse, some stuff like Polinomial C
and Analogue Bibblebath and Digiridoo are really nice..but
on the whole, the tracks really don't hold up as songs...

offline iBAN from Brisvegas (Australia) on 2003-06-03 04:13 [#00725037]

some of the piano pieces on drukqs are just plain bad. it
makes it really obvious that he hasnt had any musical
training

I L-O-V-E Classics!!

I bought it second hand, thinking it was a piece of garbage,
but the CDs in mint condition, and I just die for the tracks
on there...

I can't explain it. They're just so...so unique. I have no
idea where he got all the sounds from. Stuff like Phloam is
just pure brilliance.

(Then again, I'm an early Aphex junkie)

vordhosbn (druqks cd1 trk2)

everyone seems to love it but i think its crap...i tried and
tried to like it, listening to it when im in different
moods, but no its just a shite drill track that is neither
interesting or emotional at all, its piss poor....

yeah i know, some of the piano tracks ive tried to get into,
the very first track is great....but some are so poor and
minimal they are unlistenable....

thats why I like them.

they sound unusual.

but avril 14th is just so prettyprettypretty and kind of
reminds you of every other melancholic piano-tune you've
ever heard.

Windowlicker. Never really liked it that much.
*hides*

I love all the piano stuff on Drukqs, except 'Father'.

Yeah. They are unusual, but when you go on a Drukqs binge
for as long as I did, you appreciate every single track,
then never really listen to the album properly ever after.

I don't know why, probably because I know every single
little bit of it from memory! Just gets a bit boring.

But don't get me wrong: when the album grew on me, I
remember saying the words, "I'll never need another album --
everything I've ever wanted is here."

So...there you go.

Girl/Boy Song and Vordhosbn are very good but overrated imo.

also [weathered stone], my least favorite from SAWII i
think.

offline uzim on 2003-06-03 05:50 [#00725171]
Points: 17716 Status: Lurker

also in general drukQs, Come To Daddy, and RDJalbum, those
releases are good or very good but not as great as some find
them imo (i find Come To Daddy being unequal, drukQs too
long and sounding quite the same too often, RDJalbum lacking
a bit depth).

as genius as many make it out to be....IN MY OPINION :)

Toejam - sorry about the late reply!
Thanks, glad you really like the site. I'm into most
electronic music, really (except BoC), so it's no surprise I
like Aphex Twin. ;)
New FSOL album? Erm, later this year, preceeded by an
Amorphous Androgynous single. That's all we currently know.

this is silly... of course people aren't going to be in love
with the same aphex songs as others... that's why he's aphex
twin! he evokes passion from all sides... i can't say that i
dislike much of anything that he has released under the
aphex twin moniker, but i'm not super fond of some of his
releases under other names... it's mostly because a lot of
it is earlier stuff, and doesn;t live up to the quality of
much that he has put out since... but i still rank Saw 85-92
as one his greatest releases... yes it sounds like acid
house... this is because he was busy being a forerunner of
the genre when he was a teenager back in the bloody mid
eighties... it's wicked because the melodies are timeless...
and the steady beats are still interesting because of their
sonic quality...

really 'over'rated

just because you don't like a track that 'everyone else'
thinks is good, doesn't mean it's overrated.

to claim that it is, is to say that you are somehow smarter,
or are able to make a more accurate assesment of a track's
value than everybody else.

this is why i think these 'overrated' threads are silly and,
well, overrated.
