Well Michael Moore's bowling for Columbine sort of explains
these violent lashings. I guess fear is the driving force
behind all of this. The new found "pre-emptive strikes"
confirm this.
You may smash a wasp in your room because you think it will
sting you if you don't kill it.

Somehow I don't think the N.Koreans will be the push-over
Saddam's rag-tag bunch were.

I'm rooting for the Asians on this one.

Fuck Bush and his war-mongering cabal of fundamentalist fear
spreading loonies.
Suckers of Satan's cock, each and every one of 'em.

"Mr Weldon's comments echo those of US officials following
talks with North Korean officials in Beijing in April.

American delegates said then that North Korea had admitted
to developing nuclear weapons, but would be prepared to give
them up in return for economic and diplomatic concessions.

But Washington has repeatedly stated that it would not give
in to what it called North Korean blackmail."

i'd rather them give in to "blackmail" than start a full
scale war which could be the bloodiest since world war 2.

I read an article about Kim Jong-Il in Salon magazine - he
is well and truly out of his head - he kidnapped a popular
director and his actress wife and forced them to make
propaganda films for him.

I don't think he has the sense and self-preservation
instinct to bail and let things go to shit the way Saddam
did. He will use everything at his disposal including nukes
if he has them, then try to bite people when he's cornered.

your right there, have you seen the size of their army???

OMG!

I'm wouldn't be surprised if this US government would use
nuclear weapons on the North Koreans to get rid of the
threat of nuclear weapons. It'd be the kind of stupid act
we've come to expect from them.

Exactly.

Why haven't these "axis of evil" contries the right to
possess nuclear weapons like the US? Do we trust Bush more
than the Iranians or N.Koreans not to use them?

Non-proliferation my arse! Bush has openly broken that
treaty by actively seeking to develop these new 'mini
bunker-buster nukes'. And by declaring the right to use
nukes pre-emptively.

Insanity.

it's true

N. Korea is the only country in history to have a dead man
(Kim Il Sung) as a leader.

As much as I do not agree with the American Government for
pretty much anything...

The statement about "the war" is technically true. North and
South Korea are STILL AT WAR. The war never ended. The
article actually mentions it at the end, I'm impressed.

I voted for Nader

Hmmmm, if I was an Iraqi who would've been next in line to
be tortured and killed had Saddam remained in power I'd've
been pleased that force was used to create peace :-)

(Yes, of course not immediately, but what is immediate these
days...?we even have to wait a bit between posts!) ;-)

Realism v. Idealism I'm afraid...yeah if all the world was
being nice to each other there'd be no need to talk about
war...but it's not, so there is! Simple, product of our
times (human nature?)

But yeah, doesn't mean I'm happy about it of course :-(

engaging them diplomatically...
