i just heard 'green grass of tunnel' and i liked it , i'd love to hear more and get one/some of their albums so which one would you recommend to start with or which one is your fav? thanks in advance :) |

Finally We Are No One Múm's first album for Fat Cat — by no coincidence, the label that also broke fellow Icelanders Sigur Rós — has all the majestic synths, crackly drum-machine percussion, sampled silence, and crystalline vocals you'd expect from the country that produced Björk and Sigur Rós, though with less focus on digital sound than the former and less reliance on drama than the latter. Múm are very interested in the music of sound, but Finally We Are No One never sounds like a difficult record; if it's not the instruments sounding naïve or folksy (in good ways), the lisping, childlike vocals are bound to prompt adjectives like adorable and precious. "Green Grass of Tunnel" has the sweet melancholia, coloring-book hip-hop, and slowly shifting chords of poptronica producers like ISAN or Boards of Canada, and also trades on the wide-eyed fairy-tale qualities of Björk. Apart from the hefty title, "Don't Be Afraid, You Have Just Got Your Eyes Closed" approaches mainstream appeal — briefly, and at several different times — with a nice dance beat gradually replaced by a beatbox breakdown, toy xylophone, and a nice trumpet melody. Several individual passages of songs strike an evocative chord, like the string quartet, piano, warm synthesizers, and percussion rumblings of "K/Half Noise" combining to recall the quieter portions of Tortoise's landmark "Djed." |

yeah, the green grass of tunnel is from 'finally we are no one' so that would be a good one to start with. you can buy the icelandic version (under 'artists', then under 'mum', ya know) but then be sure to get their first album 'yesterday was dramatic, today was ok', the 'please smile my noise bleed' ep and the 'remixed' album they're all very nice. theres also a single for the green grass of tunnel, that comes on a little mini cd.. i'd recommend that too, but theres only one other song on it, and its not really worth it. |

the múm remix album is also great. it has that trabant remix (although it?s labelled as being a remix by 'traktor') and remixes by Bix, µ-ziq (2rmxes), biogen, ilo, rupxin and more |

oh yes, 'awake on a train' is great. 'ballad of broken birdie records' is the highlight of that album though, methinks. |

mum is very good stuff, I haven't got any of their albums yet but I can tell you that they're both were getting because ive heard a lot of the tracks. |

Every release by Múm is wonderful, including the remix albums. Yesterday Was Dramatic Today Is Ok is their best overall IMHO, but my fav tune by them is "We Have a Map of the Piano" off of FInally We Are No One. That track just kills me :) |

my recommendation is: "i can't feel my hand anymore, it's allright, sleep still" off finally we are one. especially the phase between 2:19 and 3:19. one of the best electronic moments in history in my opinion! |

i only have ONE Cd.....'finally we are no one' and EVERY song is a POEM!!! not a misstep anywhere IMO. i want more MUM!!!! i should get the icelandic verson because i'd love to hear it in it's ORIGINAL language........ |
