is anyone here going to view the solar eclipse due in a
couple of hours? well, at least on these shores, it's gonna
be a 90% solar eclipse at 0540 (GMT+1 ?)

can hardly wait :)

i would have to get up at 5:15 am, then walk to some kind of
field nearby to be able to actually see it. and i dont have
those fancy eclipse goggles, so i'll pass.

I'm not going to see it. I've seen the last one, and it has
to be up to 95 % or so to see actual difference in light
intensity. So,unless you have an adapted telescope or so, or
those black glasses, you're not going to see much.

nevertheless, it's worth it, imo

Well, I saw the last one, 100%, which was cool in a way. you
know, total daylight and then, complete darkness for some
seconds. It's cool but we had a cloudy day and there was no
spectacular things to be seen of the solar surface or so. I
thought it was all overrated. But that's of course just my
opinion.

But, enjoy yourself watching it!

and cold for a few moments, great stuff, hopefully i mght
see a bit of it, dont think we'll get a full eclipse here.

very long before the eclipse starts.

doesn't matter really - you should, however, expect to see
me at the next total solar eclipse, wherever the hell it is
next :)

just look for a friendly, small pixelguy wearing oversized
eclipse goggles puffin' on a freshly rolled fatty;

yup, that'd be me :)

nah, there was one in 1999 (not quite sure though), viewable
from southwestern/easter europe if I'm not mistaking.

I remember it, the eclipse on these shores was just a mere
10% or something..
