heh! i used to watch YO! MTV Raps day in & day out back in the day! 120 Minutes (The British MTV alt-music show, on every Sunday evening) was kick-arse too! that's how i found out about people like Sonic Youth! but i think you're wrong about TATU - for as long as they're not saggy & wrinkly, there will always be a (predominantly raging-hormones male) audience wanting to see pseudo-lesbian coed schoolgirls making out on stage. the original russian version of "not gonna get us" was a huge hit in Europe when i was down there last summer, so this whole thing ain't nothing new for me. I thought that track was pretty cool, what with being really harsh & drum&bassy (that's the club mix i'm talking about), and the most unlikely hit, yet people were totally getting down to it! |
