I've written a short piece of music for saxophone, flute,
and strings, and it would be great if you could listen and
leave your thoughts on this attempt at proper composition.
It's only 18 bars long

18 bar piece

thank you

...and if your bad behaviour continues, you'll be BEHIND 18
bars! :P

sounded quite nice, maybe make it have more movement towards
cadence points, if u want it to be "proper" proper
composition.

I know fuck all about composition I just know what I like
the sound of. That is some cool shit...replace the sax with
another sound and it sounds like an RPG soundtrack (don't
take that as an insult :D )

thats a nice little tune there. ecnadniarb is right about it
sounding rpg'ish, but thats always a plus in my book.

People have said that about my music before -- the irony is
I've never even PLAYED an RPG game! :D
thanks guys

i like this
the alternation of major and minor make it vary between
tragic and 'happy' ( <-- i'd like to choose another word
there but i can't think of one), nice how you were able to
put this in such a short piece

a sax isn't one of my favourite instruments and most of the
time i don't consider it very suitable for pieces like this,
but i couldn't tell with which instrument you should replace
it in this situation, so stick with it :)

omg!
that must mean that all the RPG composers ripped you off!

are you goin to sue them?

I don't think you can sue for belonging to a genre.

i think it's the sax that makes it sound rpg-ish...hmm.

neat, though. good luck finishin' it up.=]

it's that sax soundfont - I like it for it's dynamism --
I've never particularly liked the saxophone either (apart
from soprano sax), but I liked this soundfont :)

mm. not my thing.

mainy because of the MIDI sounds - I hate those.

the melodies don't do much for me either.

:*(

well, hey now. i never said i DIDN'T like the sax. i used to
play alto back in high school. haha. but yes...i was just
saying that it has that RPG kindof feel to it. FF4 came to
mind when i listened to it. hehe.

funnily enough, THAT is the game that most gets compared
with my stuff :D I was tempted to download its music one
time to investigate myself ;)

The piece was an experiment in moving to distant keys from
the tonic (C-major) The chord progression, for those
interested, is:

C - A minor - G - D minor - C - C(#5th) - E minor - A minor
- E-flat - E-flat minor - A-flat - A-flat minor - E - E
minor - A - A minor - G - C

:)
