damn funky bass line sweet ass use of horns. i usually am not much of a fan of the sax but the tenor sax sounds quite nice here.
i like this song though i think the sampled drums detract a bit from the song. course i know how difficult it is to find a live drummer. other than that it sounds quite solid. good work

one thing i think 'works' is to add a tiny bit of flanger or vibrato to them drums. or a smidge of wah. just enough that its barely noticable. makes each hit sound a wee bit different from the next.

I must eat your brain to obtain your fearsome musical powers.
Or maybe I'll just spend more time practicing. :o)
That sax phrase with the sudden high note just kills me. You know, the part with the thing.
When you say you "recorded in" the bass, you mean you recorded yourself playing bass, or you triggered it from a midi keyboard? It's a very nice sound for a bass sample if that's what it is.

MASTERPLAN of how i did it:
bass -> jack lead -> computer
commonly known as direct input! i really need to get a pre amp tho.
I'm glad you liked it :) i got a few tips about sax playing off of paul (marlowe). We recently made a track together, but we need to make some final adjustments before letting u lot hear it! and he cant do anything at the moment, no computer available for him.

I really dig the sound of that bass - it's all like woody and midrangy, and I can hear the notes perfectly. I hate when bass players scoop out the mids and you can only feel the notes in your toes and your teeth. if you get that preamp try to keep it sounding natural.

great melodies and bass...drums are a bit weak, tho. (.mid?) i'm not a big fan of saxophones either, but here they were actually quite pleasant.
