i was recording various tracks onto a cassette, i do this a lot so i can listen to music when im trundling along, and i noticed something strange, when i record a track then rewind the cassette a bit so it stops midsong, then record a new track over it, and then listen to what ive done....the join between the two songs makes them overlap for a split second, i have 2 songs at the same time just for that instant. it doesnt always work, but has anyone else noticed this, or is it just my ears tricking me?

That sounds very normal to me. That's what happens when you use analog ... things.
