EP7!

Good golly, what I wouldn't give to hear that for the first
time again.

And why don't people mention Maphive6.1 and liccflii more.
From track 5 through 11 it's sublime.

offline Q4Z2X on 2003-04-13 14:11 [#00648439]

which other albums of theirs is it most similar to?

Probably LP5 but definitely different.

when i heard it the 1st time i was like "this is
autechre??"

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2003-04-13 14:40 [#00648461]

I thought it was pretty shit. I like all their other albums,
especially Confield, but this just plain bores and annoys
me. I don't even like the sounds (which is what it's all
about, if we're honest)...althought, Pir is great I'll
admit.

offline Tab from manchester (United Kingdom) on 2003-04-13 14:46 [#00648474]

ep7 is bloody brilliant

I only have Ep7 and Grantz Graf, and Ep7 is my favourite of
the 2.

Although it does differ with my mood.

offline ymenard on 2003-04-13 15:05 [#00648507]
Points: 1001 Status: Regular

Ep7 is _so_ dry, it makes it unique. Compare it to the
soundscapes of Confield, it's night and day. But I feel
that many of the tracks on Ep7 kinda feel like old-school AE
from Garbage or Anvil vapre.

RENIFORM PULS is the twin brother of PIR I have to say.

offline Morgoth from Stella-town (Belgium) on 2003-04-13 15:07 [#00648511]

It's a fantastic peace of work, and what length for an ep.
Congrats on your purchase of this goodie. Now get the rest!
;-)

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2003-04-13 16:27 [#00648619]

Why do you people love it so? I find it dry and dead and
"plasticky" sounding...perhaps you guys like that kind of
sound. I hate it. And contry to popular belief, I don't
think a lot of it is ALL that complicated.

offline CS2x from London (United Kingdom) on 2003-04-13 19:15 [#00648773]
Points: 5079 Status: Lurker

Actually, some of it *is* very complicated lol (just
listened to it again)

Still, I hate it. :D

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2003-04-13 21:01 [#00648826]

Brilliant album, ccec is my fave song from it, it's all
amzazing though...

Prepare yourself for the long haul with Confield, I'm only
jsut getting into it now after having bought it a second
time recently (first time I bought I was thinking 'what the
fuuuuck, this blows goats')...it definetly grows on you
though the more you listen...imo ;)

man, Ive got everythin theyv'e done and I think that ep7 is
the weakest they have released. It just doesnt cut it
compared with LP5 or even Draft 7.30

I think I'm ready for confield... I've now heard all their
albums up to confield, so it's not going to be a TOTAL
surprise really... plus I've read so many reviews and stuff
about it being completely nuts, so I won't be caught off
guard... :)

well, I'm already enjoying this more then LP5... could be
the newness factor I guess, but I don't know, this just
holds my interest more then I think LP5 ever did as a
whole...

EP7 is lovely, i love the artwork as well. Pretty way out. I
would also liek to get LP5, what's it like? Anyone?

offline AE_King from Australia on 2003-04-14 08:44 [#00649468]

EP5 you mean? It's bloody amazing, like all autechre you
can't describe it, it's a stand alone peice of art.

offline Murray from Southend, Essex (United Kingdom) on 2003-04-14 08:46 [#00649473]

no..i mean LP5

I dunno...you call yourself the king of Autechre and you
can't even get one of thier album names right

for shame :(

;)

EP5 heh heh . . . LP5 is very, very good. Id consider it to
be a benchmark in AE stuff but for the rest of the IDM
artists. It's very detailed and Ive been listening to it
regularly since it came out. One of the few albums thats
survives repeated listening these days. . .

offline uzim on 2003-04-14 13:40 [#00649980]

this was the first release i got by Ae (bad choice).

but strangely... at first i liked it, and now it seems i
liked it less and less... °_°
it's been a long time since i last listened to it, i should
try it again. (but not right now, right now i'm enjoying
this album and i don't want to stop it for Ae!)

offline uzim on 2003-04-14 13:42 [#00649984]

in fact, ep7 is good, but you have to be so much in
the *exact* mood for listening to it that it's very very
rare when i listen to it...

ep5 would be... envane? yeah... envane.

funkmaster: what about netlon sentinel? that's my
favorite... i even have a video idea for it and everything.
wrote it all down... hehehe

yeehaw!

ep7 rocks (not my favorite, but close)

yeah, that's real good... the last three are excellent...
Zeiss Conarex, or however you spell it, is amazing though...
fucking love it... it sounds so cool, the way the melody
seems to come from nowhere, and is constantly morphing and
changing...

PIR is the best AE album-ending _EVAR_, yes it even beats
Vietrmx21 or Reniform Puls or Nuane or Lentic Catachresis.
