hockey riots!

i went to frat street last night after the gophers won the
championship to watch all the stupid drunks celebrate. they
went into an all out release and took over the streets,
causing major trafic jams, and proceeded to start a fire a
local intersection and tear walk signs of the stoplight
posts and break into a few businesses. it was all pretty
fun to watch the group energy when it was just trafic jams
and screaming, but then these morons had to start throwing
plastic chairs into the fire, and throwing styrofoam paper
plates into the streets. and why the local businesses?!
this just verified my general bias against the whole school
spirit jock alcoholic culture. no offense if you like
hockey or whatever, but you must admit that the majority of
the sports culture is a culture of ignorance and the sports
themselves just serve as outlet for rage. i mean, these
people were just fucking nuts! kicking random cars with
people in it and... it's just so frustrating. whatever.
i'll post a link to a friends photos once they are online.

hahahahha

ey man, i feel ya. when i was in NYC last month i went to
see a Rangers game at Madison Square Garden and there was a
fight in the lobby after the game. a guy sitting next to me
had three beers next to his feet. still, i don't think it
got as bad as what you mentioned.

we one last year and a small riot ensued. our win this year
made it the first time the championship was one twice in a
row since some time in the seventies. naturally, they were
charged with some major ego. it was pretty silly, i wish i
had had a video camera. there were cops with riot gear
their this year, so i figured it wouldn't get too out of
hand.

hockey games at the Sullivan Arena here in Anchorage are a
pretty big deal. every time i went there would be your
average noisy drunken fans, but the only peeps getting in
fights are the players. at least the peeps in the bleachers
have a little common sense.

people here are generally peaceful IMO, except on the road.

lol, which reminds me, while i was watching the scene
somebody pointed out to me that the whole thing was a bit
like a hockey fight... the cops just sort of stayed back and
let it happen for a while, waiting for it to reach a certain
level of danger.

Yes, sports fans are a rowdy crowd of misfits and idiots. I
may be addicted to hockey, but I'm nothing like the rest of
these tools.

Fucking ignoramouses... soccer ''hooligans'', the inevitable
LA riots when the Lakers win the championship that they
purchased... humans are a plague.

And riots aren't like they used to be. Now people do it to
be arsehole sheep. Back in the 40's and 50's, the Montreal
Canadiens fans rioted out of sheer passion. Passion,
Goddammit!

you should see soccerriots in europe, they still do it out
of passion! Last time when Feyenoord (dutch soccerclub) won
the uefa europe cup 1, the fans went nuts and destroyed a
whole shopping street and went swimming in the big fountain
in the middle of Rotterdam....just sick!
