...is being re-released to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
is this worth the money? i have the plain release...it is a bit bland, especially in comparison to other Floyd albums on CD i have...maybe a fresh new copy would be good to have...
thoughts?

It's been re-released already. Last month actually. At least in the US. It's a SACD. It's dual layer. Regular remastered stereo recording and a 5.1 suround mix that can only be played on a special SACD Player. Not worth the money unless you have a SACD player.

Yeah. It sounds the same on a normal CD player, may as well have the SACD capability as well. Plus... it's Dark Side of the Moon... if you don't own it, why bother existing?

imo dark side was the beginning of the end ... but there you go -
i guess its a pretty classic album, also first one to have continuous track on lp. i prefer the earlier stuff; piper at the gates of dawn, relics (compilation), atom heart mother, some wonderful tracks on umma gumma and saurcerful of secrets ....
if anything it'd be worth getting the video .. can't remember the exact title, but its the wizard of oz, with dark side as the soundtrack on it - some wonderful coincidences ..

well i saw it at the cinema, and it was called something like : beyond the rainbow - i presume it got released, there is a subtle edit third time through the album to make the "home home again ... " on breathe sync with the ending of the movie.
The first time through though is fucken fantastic - 2nd time is a bit of a stretch tho.

Beginning of the end, I can see that... the creative spark they had with Barrett (and a little after) gave way to pretentious wank.
Barrett > Gilmour/Waters

but seriously, for any floyd fan, or vague floyd enthusiast, watching the Wizard of Oz (mute) with DSotM playing - is well worth the effort!

I've never really like Dark Side much... The Wall has always been my favorite... it's such a brilliant piece of work... I love Meddle and Wish You Were Here as well...
