OSX probably hides the guts of Unix from its users pretty
well so hopefully you'll never see it, but it's the 'bit
bucket' or 'recycle bin' to use the politically correct term
.

If want to throw away the output of a command, you send it
to /dev/null:

$ echo "don't press the history eraser button!" > /dev/null
