...you to complete a song from start to finish? Obviously this only applies to music makers....

Depends on whether I play it live or not. I can work quickly. but usually somewhere around 25 hours worth is a good estimate.

It usually seems to take me only 3-6 hours most of the time. Occasionally there is one that takes a day or two...

Some fine tracks can be made quickly. For instance, I think the quicker a track is, the less time it takes to make.
My ambient pieces took a lot more time than my edgier stuff.

depends on what i'm goin for.,.. ambitrance (as i call it, think back to old polygon window) usually goes pretty fast, cause it's a loop with minor variations from time to time
'scratchamatahtae' and 'intellitrance' take longer cause of the intricacies...
so...anywhere from an hour to a week
gots badass names for me styles too huh?

My tracks take usually between 8 and 15 hours.
Except occasionally I'll get stuck and have to go back to them several times (with gaps between efforts as large as a few months)
I also write tracks completely start to finish (sometimes add an intro at the end though)
anyone else do this?

I think you should see the Closer to God pt 2 single (UK) on it, it specifically says that trent reznor came up with the title to march of the fuckheads even though the song is completely adrian sherwood. :)
Trent just had to have credit for the title :)

month-long gaps: check year long gaps: check writing start to finish: dun really know what you mean, but my comment here would be that i like to let the track grow as it will....
true, i DO start with a Grand Vision of how the track Should Be, but that usually ends up mutating into something different, but usually better...
i like letting the music influence the flow rather than my personal tastes
