the beginning of Clifford Gilberto's Earth Vs Me song is
exactly like Come on my selector. The same synth sounds,
same beat, same structure. It's a total SP ripoff. listen
for yourselfs

From what I've heard, anything by Clifford Gilberto is a
Squarepusher ripoff.

there was a conversation about this on warpcomm ages ago
clifford gilberto even came and said that he gets a lot of
insparation from tom

i dont care though
clifford gilberto is really good, and for the most part,
pretty different from square[puhser

You do realize that is rubbish

Squarepusher defined the Drill N Bass style, Aphex's music
refelcted off of Squarepusher

they have distinctly different approaches to the genre which
they pioneered, along with a few other fellows...

Hangable Auto Bulb came out before Feed me Wierd things.

once I saw the thread title I knew exactly which song this
was about.

the break used in 'come on my selector' and 'earth vs. me'
is a very common one. that is, it is a common d'nb break.
this sort of thing is prevalent in hip-hop. certain breaks
or samples become sort-of tradition , and certain
breaks/samples, based on this acknowledgement of tradition
and celebration of the roots of the culture almost become
communal breaks .. whereas should one artist sample said
breaks they really wouldn't be "ripping off" anyone. the
only problem here, in this particular instance is that the
synths etc are so very similar to the squarepusher song that
it does seem a bit plagiarized. but then again, it could
also be an encomium, or a celebration of a musical
inspiration

It's a total rip off! Deliver the weird sounds just like
squarepusher's theme....the structure is very much the same
not just the drum sounds. Earth vs me has the same
descending bass as come on my selector plus i can hear the
melody for tequila fish in there somewhere!

juts heard a sample at
http://www.fye.com/catalog/musicProduct.jhtml;jsessionid=TC
RYKZKS111JMCIIAADAAAIJBAAAMAIA?itemId=10311486

and yep, it opens with teqila fish and does sound bery
pushery.

it'd make me wanna get the album though.

(he's also got a single called "deliver the weird" ... eh
"feed me weird things" anyone?!!!)

The whole album is very enjoyable. 'deliver the weird'
sounds like squarepusher's theme.

That song is basically a cover version of Come On My
Selector. The Clifford Gilberto album is really entertaining
though, it may be unoriginal but it's copying something
good.
