Arent they the weirdest thing? Who came up with the concept
of adding fake laughter in a show to indicate the characters
have done something funny? Is todays generation so dumb they
can't figure out the half assed jokes made on sitcoms? It
seems like its the same thing as those signs you see in
studios that say "Applause". Whats next? Adding in screams
when something scarry happens? Maybe some crying sounds when
sad thigns happen.......

the sounds don't really indicate that something funny
happend, they just add 'fun' to a trivial scene. i saw a
documentary about humor where they had clips from shows with
the laughing removed and it was just plain silly.

Well with the laugh tracks removed the characters would just
stand there while they wait for the laughing (that isnt on)
to stop. Very often do I notice everything just stopping so
the laughtrack can finish....

Look at movies, they don't have laughtracks and can still be
funny. Its just something that has been pounded into our
heads thru tv...

I'm not sure Mr. Waits ;)

The only thing worse than canned laughter are children shows
when they laugh at something that isn't funny

time so its cool for them to be retards.

Plus I think when kids see other kids laughing like crazed
axe murderers it makes them laugh.
