Pink Floyd's Dark Side 5.1
Today EMI records has released a brand new remastery of Pink
Floyd's 1973 flop Dark Side of the Moon. The SACD (Super
Audio CD) has been remixed specifically for Dolby 5.1
Surround Sound, but has a newly remixed stereo for standard
players as well. The man himself, James Guthrie, who is
known as the Floyd's longtime producer, has taken care of
this entire remastery process to ensure it is "consistent
and faithful to the original stereo mix." Many of the
original studio tapes were used for the remix process,
rather than any of the countless generations of those
already remixed. Because the original album never caught on
and is still totally unrecognizable, this new version will
feature a newly designed cover.

I am pissed off at that pink floyd cd. I don't own a SACD
player so I can't listen to the 5.1 track on it. And there
damn encryption won't let me play it on e my computer. So
unless you have a nice SACD player, don't waste your money.
And even if you do have one, you can't get a digital signal
off the disc for the same reason a computer can't play it.
It plays with 5.1 analog channels.

Unless you have a SACD player it's a waste to buy it, unless
you don't have it at all. The regular stereo layer sounds
the same as the last remaster. But the cover is cool, I
bout it the day it came out and was very dissapointed.

It doesn't sound different. I haven't heard the 5.1 mix
yet. Does anyone know how to play one of these on a computer
cd-rom or dvd drive?

Am I high or did I read some where that "Darkside of the

I won't bother, I already two or three versions of the
fucking thing. I'd rather get the new Who's Next Deluxe
version.

Or better yet, I want to spend hundreds on remixed and
remastered Beatles albums. Every good band has gotten an
aural facelift except them. What... the... fuck.

Uhhhh... I don't even know... yet to see a date... with the
dickheads that are in charge of their back catalogue, we'll
be lucky to get it in 2003, I'm not holding my breath.

There is a DVD of the Dark Side of the Moon coming out
soon. Not sure exactley what all is on it, but it is in 5.1
surround and has video on it. I'd buy it rather than the
shitty SACD remaster. Take my word for it, I wish I hadn't
spent the $10 since I will never buy a SACD player and will
never buy another SACD again.

hmm, sooner than I thought then. It seems like a much
better buy regardless since you don't need special hardware
to hear it. SACD players are too damn expensive.
