MESSAGEBOARD!

Ok, there's a lot of shit going on recently.
Many of the mods and especially the webmasters (including
myself) are having real-life issues going on right now that

have a little higher priority than monitoring the board.

I guess I can speak for anyone of the crew. If I don't,
please correct me.

Some members seem to be really pissed right now due to
recent bans of more or less regular users, which I can
understand fully. I'm pretty sure though that the respective

crew member had his reasons to ban that particular user,
even if circumstances are shady.

I'd like to remind you: primarily, this is a
music messageboard, where people can share their
music interests, whether it is about electronic music or
music in general. Other messageboards I know like to keep it

pretty strict to one topic (which would be electronic music

on this place), so I think you should really appreciate the

freedom that we're are providing for you.
To our amazement, this place even became a place where
people can discuss other topics about intimate personal
things or political issues and make friends. not to mention

the heartful stat-competitions by nacmat and woofer that
really give the majority of this community a great time.
unfortunately some people take this very high amount of
freedom for granted as they post useless, crappy and/or
(sometimes) hostile topics.

Another reminder:
As harsh as it may sound, we're not supported by a freakin'

foundation under public law, there's a shitload of money
floating into this site each month and I think we can expect

some comprehension for our actions that some of you find
fault.

another word to the recently banned members:
if some of you think you got a raw deal, mail us
instead of creating multiple accounts as it will make things

worse.
if it was due to a misunderstanding, I'm sure it can be
worked out in almost any case. creating another account and

trolling the board down cannot be the way, so please just

Can't we just shut the message board down for a couple of
days,to let people cool of?

I was running out of space here...

... so please just mail us instead.

Another thing I'd like to mention is the highly unappropiate
behaviour against one of our finest members and recently
hired moderator Ceri JC.
He was just trying to keep things properly and so he needed
to temp-ban and perm-ban some of the troublemakers as well
as closing some topics.
By all means, I'd have done the same thing, he's just doing
what a moderator is supposed to do, keeping the board the
clean. I can't really understand why you give him shit about
this.
Again, if some of you think they have been treated unfair,
mail us instead of causing more trouble.
It should be worked out in almost any cases.

I'm kinda sad I needed to post this statement, but now it's
time for your comments, statements, suggestions, etc.

Come distortured artists
Bitter things seek meaning
Even if they're madness to behold
Once forbears to horizons
Where the dead stayed dreaming
Now nightmares waken souls
That fear the living's toll

Yes some topics have been ridiculous. But then there have
always been ridiculous topics. I don't there's been that
many more recently. The only thing Ceri did which I didn't
really agree with was telling people not to post any more
topics about the war, which was daft if you consider that
most of the war topics went up to 100 posts within half an
hour and people with 56k modems have a nightmare loading
them. I know it's a music messageboard, but I bought NME and
Kerrang! this morning and both of them feature the war for
the first 10 pages - it's something you can't get away from,
and most of them weren't nonsense topics. Flea was banned
for protesting, rightly I think, against this restricition
and that caused bad feeling all over the place. I don't even
READ the war topics, I just thought that kind of restriction
and subsequent action was unnecessary. I was sad Cort was
banned too. But I guess a week off isn't the end of your
fucking life is it? Aside from that, no problems, ban any
troublemakers, close the shit threads... good job people.

Ceri is doing a great job, it is a dificult time, but he
really is doing his best and I apreciate it.

indeed it is a dificult time for the MB, but I hope we all
calm down a bit and there is no more troublemaking

I am sorry that someone paying for this has to stand people
talking shit about him or about whoever, I think some of us
forget that this is free source for the members cos phobia
is paying every month

I am sure though, that a nice weather will come back after
the storm

and I am sure that the crew will keep the good work the are
already doing

oh yes, maybe one thing:

temp bans are o.k. this isn't so hard and i think, that
people then have some time to think what they made wrong.

perm bans: one suggestion:
maybe we could make votings ?
all the members would vote if to ban him or not. some
democracy

I am only replying to this because I feel like a lot of this
statement is refering directly to me and Flea.

I was and still am so up in arms about this as I feel that
flea was not causing the problems somebody else was
(pantaliamon). I believe that Ceri JC didnt show the best
of judgement under the circumstances. And I still see War
threads being posted here, and being very popular as well.
That makes Flea's banning even more unfair becuae starting
new war threads was exactly what he was banned for.

As his wife and seeing the attitude of this board once Flea
is unbanned I will be severely restricting his access to his
board. Which means that you can all say goodbye to all the
remixing and other strictly music based community activities
he so eagerly used to initiate and participate in.

I think he is wasting time on this board.

about flea:

I am sorry he is banned, cos we all know how important he
is.
he protested with those two threads about war when ceri had
warned not to open new ones, well I think I understand flea,
but I also understand ceri

ceri couldnt show a diferent behaviour towards flea, just
because he was a friend

flea wasnt agree with the restriction, cos he who has never
act troll, found it unneccessary to forbid the creation of
new threads, I am sure he knew there was a lot of trolling
around the war fact, but he believed there was no need for a
restriction and he protested for that, he knew he was gonna
be banned, I hope he come backs in a week.

I think he paid for other trolls who had deserved a ban
instead of him

dude...you are totally right. If people are tired of the
board they should stay away, and If people love the board
they should behave.

I love this board, and I have had my share of banned topics
but mostly it's because my point of view maybe crossed the
line of what is respected on this board. I fully understand
banning topics of the need to keep the board clean, but I
DON'T understand that people are trying to GET
topics/profiles banned.

I really like this board, and for me it's a perfect harmony
between chatting and discussing, and I would NEVER try to
harm the board.

i hate it when people are talking about incidents as if
everyone is expected to know what they are talking
about....i have no idea what happened with ceri or flea and
i want someone to tell me to end the confusion, but i know
if i bring it up people will voice their opinions rather
then give facts and the fight may re-errupt.

No he actually has things in his personal life he should be
going on with and is sitting with me right here as I type
this. flea and I make mutual decisions on how we spend our
time together and have an equal realationship based on 10
years of marriage

flea has mainly been spending his leisure time here, more of
which i believe we should be spending together, the message
board is important to him but in this atmosphere it is far
from pleasure I appreciate his friendship to all of you and
understand having being a long term user of Usenet

Okay everyone ta ta from me.

Flea will be back but he says the mods and webmaster better
keep that perm band handy. Because he has no intention to
stop talking about what he wants to talk about, and right
now that happens to be War, he wont stop talking about it
and I can understand his need to to do so.

I’m not exactly a prolific poster here, so maybe my
opinion doesn’t count as much as others, but I’m also
not, ehm, involved with anybody on the board, so I can kinda
give an outsiders view on this.
I think the xltronic board will always suffer for it’s
popularity. It’s a great place to go if you’re looking
for a quick answer or reply, but the flip side of that coin
is, if nobody replies to you, within a couple of hours
you’re back on page 4, with nobody looking at your
message. Personally, I think it was unfair to ban somebody
for starting war related topics. If nobody on the board is
interested in participating in a war related discussion,
then they should not reply, and in no time the topic will be
way down the list.
Just wait till Draft7.0 comes out. There will be topics
appearing every few minutes, all on the same thing. When
news of the Bug CD on Rephlex came out, there were loads of
topics posted about the Bug, the same thing repeated over
and over. Personally I find that more tiresome than a
handful of war topics. But then again the answer is easy,
don’t read or reply to the topics.
As the board has become such a monster, maybe it should be
separated into sub-boards, one for music, one for other
general or personal stuff.
Anyway, that’s just the opinion of a part-timer. You guys
probably know better….

please tell him this:

flea If you wanna talk about war, great, cos I like talking
about that so much... and talking with you is always so
interesting, but please, dont make them perm ban you, we can
keep the war subject in one or two threads, many people
would miss you if you left.

i'm sure this has been said before,
i think it's not too much too ask to warn a member before
banning him/her..

i seriously think that just banning someone like that only
causes more trouble, he/she will come back with an other
account and spam here, and others will be angry about the
person being banned or question why he/she's banned

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that i'm against banning
it's just the way it's done (sometimes), one moment no-one
is being banned, and the other moment several people are
banned just like that
