what's new? Saw this great movie more than half a year ago.

I highly recomend it, I only regret it that sometimes movies
get attention due to awards.

hmm, brody should get an award just for loosing that much
weight for the part...
and he was the only good thing about the whole movie, ohh
and it is filmed really good, and it looks authentic...

I think you mean 9th gate tolstoyed?
I loved that movie too, but the pianist had me picking up my
jaw from off the floor.

i really enjoyed the film.

i liked its dry straight forward approach. it made the film
more emotional.

i must've seen the wrong movie...

9th Gate........door.....cabinet.....ahhahha

i actually found that movie to be quite LACKING.....i'd
hoped it would be significantly SCARIER, but not at all.
johnny depp tho......WOAH....he's always interesting.

my fav polanski movie.....Rosemary's Baby which i just saw
recently with my BF......dat was some scary sh*@T!

funny... :)

just finished watching this film! i really enjoyed it. very
harrowing. it doesn't match the emotional impact of
Schindlers List tho, what i consider to be the BEST film
about the Holocaust.

you didn't find the scene where he played the piano for the
german emotional?!?!.....tears streamed down my face and i
had to blow my nose twice......it struck me as so sorrowful,
so beautiful, it grabbed my throat and heart at the same
time.

i definately recommend this film, especially for history
buffs!

i got that bad impression about it after seeing first 10
minutes...and it didnt go away untill the end, i'd probably
leave, but i wasnt alone

perhaps that scene was ok...actually i would've wanted more
scenes in which he plays piano
i dont know why, but i find films like this funny in a way
(its terrible) and pretty silly (i wish i didnt)

i prefer casual films i guess (dont need no big scenes to
get emotional...it usually happens when i watch japanese
films, for me they are the masters of emotional scenes)

anyway, pianist is a magnificent film (but unfortunately it
does nothing for me)

well it's interesting to get different opinions.....and
movies effect people differently.

i find Japanese films to be less emotional however, the
infamous japanese reserve.....even when a character in a
film is committing hari kari....they shed no tears....so odd
and powerful in it's own way.

anyway.....i'm glad i watched it FINALLY and i loved the
chopin pieces, and i agree, while not appropriate for the
film i wish there had been more piano playing.

after watching the BONUS features i wanna READ the book,
seems fascinating and has parts of the diary of the German
officer who helped him (and other jews) which i'd like to
read.

This was a great movie, I saw it recently and was very
moved. How someone could not find this movie emotionally
powerful is beyond me. I loved it!

i know more people that liked it to those that didnt, so
surely im missing something - but it seems all so remote to
me...it was terrible for sure, but i just cant put myself in
the perspective of the people that experienced holocaust
but the thing that really bothers me is that there's been
1000's of films about it and they all show same things

about hari kiri-come on...thats emotional in a terrible way,
you need to see some decent japanese film like dolls, eureka
or the railroad man - those are the most emotional films
ever
:)
