love's secret domain, stolen and contaminated songs, time
machines, musick to play in the dark are all good i reckn.
there are others aswell.
how to destroy angels is pretty full on.
depends how brutal you like it.

autechre touch to it :)

Tolstoyed is bullshitting you :)

Coil's music ranges pretty widely. A lot of the earlier
stuff has a sort of "apocalyptic folk" feeling to it. They
have also released stuff that's pretty industrial-ish, noisy
and drony. Some of it is even pretty close to straight-up
techno.

It's hard to summarize.

ohh, come on, i was close with jamie
they sound weird to me just like autechre do, but since
nacmat likes autechre he might like coil as well...

and matmos are way better! :)

I'd say start with Musick to Play in the Dark Vol I. If you
like that, pick up the second volume. From there on out
it's up to you.

music to play in the dark 1, or love's secret domain. also,
coil has been around a lot longer than most of this idm
stuff you guys are saying is better than it, and has
influenced a ton of it. show some respect you youngins.

pantalaimon > Musick To Play In The Dark vol.1 is the album
i would recommend first too : )
for their latest stuff... i want to get Constant Shallowness
Leads To Evil, i will re-order it as soon as it gets
available, apart from that i have The Remote Viewer and
Moon's Milk [in four phases], both great! you can download
the remote viewer from Refund's FTP. great ambient (with
bagpipes!). : )

loaderror > although only one album can't give you a whole
idea of what Coil is... if you want, you can try to pick
some of these songs (especially 'Heartworms', gives you a
good taste of their sound!)

· Heartworms (from 'Foxtrot')

· The Anal Staircase (from 'Horse Rotorvator') - one of
their first, more easier to get into, industrial songs

· The Mothership And The Fatherland (from 'Astral
Disaster') - one of their dark ambient tracks. very
different but at least as good as the other Coil.

· London's Lost Rivers (from the vinyl edition of Black Light
District: A Thousand Lights In A Darkened Room) - i'm really
into this song at the moment... gloomelancholico-romantic.

· Tainted Love (from 'Scatology') - you have to hear this!
they transformed that dancey song into a funeral march, only
keeping the kitsch aspect of it (all Coil is a little
kitsch, it's part of their charm ^^)

· 'Red Queen', or 'Ether' - sublime piano melodies, over
weird Coilness.

· Backwards! (one of their very best - only played live to
my knowledge!)

or if you have a high connection, there are good free
bootleg live downloads at this place. (you just
have to answer a little riddle to get in, you will get it
after some time even if you answer at random ; ))

+
Coil lyrics.

Backwards is also an actual song unveiled on their last

I've heard in a while. Wow, I knew something Titsworth
didn't.. If OWNly I could post pictures.

LOVE's SECRET DOMAIN
LOVE'S SECRET DOMAIN
LOVES SECRET DOMAIN..

if you are an Electronic/IDM fan you will slide into this
babby like a buttered glove..It's the perfect Nexus the
Junction of all that's been Coil and All it will be...then
you can chose to travel forward..glitchier, more abstract
and ambient stuff...or backwards to the harsher more
industrial sounds...

there are many great coil releases, i have 6 cds, id rather

'flavour' of the album.

titsworth > check my link above, here...

on Live at New Forms III, the fourth track is Backwards! you
have to download the whole thing - the tracks aren't
separated - but it is worth it.
