Im planning to take a different approach to making music, i
want to like create everything from scratch and only use
samples if i can manipulate them (cut them up and so on)

I am thinking about using Pro Logic Audio and filling my
Laptop with a shit load of VI's, is this a good way to go?

Any advice is welcome

P.S I'm used to just using samples and layering them ontop
of each other and creating riffs and loops in several
programs

cool edit pro. use the multitrack wave sequencer. if all
your loops loop then your'e sorted.

or get propellerheads recycle and cut up the samples then
use the exported files in cubase or reason.

i recommend you download the demos of a few programs to see
if you like them.

I'm lookin to create a kind of Skam-like techno, perhaps add
some vintage stuff in there, sample my SH-101 and so on

Ah, for a good Sh-101 sound use Vaz Modular synth- best
SH-101 software emulator I've heard.

Very good for early BoC type sounds as well as acid
basslines...
