saw it yesterday

what did you thought of this movie?

for me there was a total lack of argument and the love story
is just unbelievable

also too much useless violence

the scenario and D.D.Lewis were great though

Yeah, Daniel Day Lewis was great in that movie....but then
he always is.

DD lewis was good. Not a lot else was IMO. An okay film
that ws entertaining, but hardly life changing intelligent
cinema. It also certainly wasn't the "last great epic" a lot
of people made it out to be.

although the movie itself was still hollywood in the end,
love story and all... to me it seemed a reminder of how
things have changed drastically, but really very little at
all.

of course one is always at the mercy of the writer,
director, cast, and all the crap dramaticizations. but some
of the general issues of the film i found common to where
things are at even now. different scale; similar
allegieances, indulgences, desires problems, conservancies,
exploitations, hopes, manipulations, beliefs, provocations
and revolts.

not life-changing, or even a new way of depicting life. but
somehow relevant.

that accent down!

I myself have NOT seen this movie yet, but I also do not
feel like I am MISSING anything great. I want to see it and
will end up renting it, but from what I have read out here,
I can wait=)

Oh and just to ask you, is his performance in THIS better
than LAST OF THE MOHICANS?...or IN THE NAME OF THE
FATHER?....

Cause both of those were brilliant works by DDL. He IS
getting a ton of hype over this Gangs...

I think Day Lewis has done better, most notably My Left
Foot. However, this is a different type of performance, not
necessarily one of great acting skill, but one of creating a
massive onscreen presence. He commands the screen in every
one of his scenes, reducing everyone else to mere extras.

its like the verr shaking Judy of Richard and Judy

"what did you think Judy...?"
"well mrr rreporrterr, i'm educated, and so the only comment
i can make since i am so educated and i know a good actorr
when i see one, is that DDL was grreat"

it was a bit of an odd one really. to start with, it was
nice to learn something new about the country thats told all
its stories a hundred times over BUT it was damn long and
had strange moments. i liked it but i won't go out of my
way to see it again or buy it...

"but we don't need to say it any given operrtunity"

we're talking about a film with Day-Lewis IN it. kind of
silly to avoid talking about him because you have some
strange problem with that.
