this was mentioned in a recent thread. does this really work? i've read all over the place that it's bogus, that the "ear wax" seen is only the candle wax and it doesn't really do anything except that the warmth of the candle makes you feel good. and it so happens that ear coning is associated with the new age group while doctors will have nothing to do with the practice, so you got to be a little suspicious.

yes, loving it! i hated that empty slot so much.
coffee, i don't know a lot about it... concept is there is a hollow cone candle that is stuck in your ear and the heat melts your ear wax and clears your channels.

I've heard of it. My hairdressers daughter has done it and your hearing becomes better with the cleared out passageways.

anyone else know about this? i question it cause i read something on hoax tracker dot com or some such website that said it was bunk, but some of those sites are as fanatical as a conspiracy theory site.

i was the one who mentioned it, and yeah, i hear it works wonders. as a musician, i am concerned with maintaining my ears and hearing. not OBSESSED, but attentive to the idea. i would like to get it done, as i hear there is a noticable difference in your, um... hearing.

sounds kind of kinky :) i imagine ear candies would come in a thick syrup consistency liquid form.

hey jup!
i heard it's ze REAL deal. you can do it yourself, but i wouldn't recommend it!
ahhaha
i think most full service salons do it for a nominal fee 10-15 dollars......
you can also go the old fashioned route and have your doctor give you the ole ear lavage.....interesting things we have hanging around our ears......EWWWWWWWW

i've done it several times .. great fun, you hear all this stuff (quasi-bubbling sounds) whilst the candle is in your ear. i think it kind of works. the idea seems pretty straight forward. but doctors don't like it, because it leaves a very fine white residue in the ear that looks like a fungus.

nothing wrong with placebo - it works doesnt it!!! ... you can unroll the candle at the end and see all the earwax (=evidence?).
however, only time i ever used it turned out to be ineffective because it was internal (behind the ear drum/eustachian tube).

I think masturbation cures cancer. It's cheaper and more relaxing than ear candling too.
