I had no idea that u2 went this far into electronica/techno for their Pop album. I had heard this break all over the place many times long before I knew this was actually U2.. very surprising. as far as the rest of the album (I'm just exploring it now) is concerned.. they really didn't employ too many trip-hop/electronica devices as the hype/press surrounding this release would lead you to believe.. though howie b's presence is felt throughout.
off topic.. how lame is that joy division cover by squarepusher!? love will WHAT tom!? speak up

great song... probably my favourite on the pop-album.
"they really didn't employ too many trip-hop/electronica devices"
don't underestimate Do You Feel Loved... :-) It has a pretty normal verse-chorus-verse structure, but the actual sounds sound nothing like a regular guitar pop-band.

Theo Himself, you are partially right about the []pusher mix. I like the echo atmosphere of the entire track, but then again, it´s not much of a remix is it really?!

great song, i don't have a u2 album yet but i have some mp3s including this one and it is great. but why did they call it mofo, as it seems to be about just the mo with nothing about fo?

pop is not a good place to start if you're just getting into u2.. goto 'war' 'achtung baby' or 'joshua tree' or 'the unforgettable fire'

you have to give it to a band like U2... when they released the joshua tree they became probably the most popular band at the time... and then in the 90's they just went full circle into electronic music... they could've just stuck with what they were doing, but at least they have a need to change and explore within music... even if you hate them, you have to respect them for changing their styles and trying new things, and the same goes for any band that does this...

thats not true.
what madonna did was strip out the most hip parts of electronic music and water them down to her level.
that does not make me respect her a lot.

Didn't Howie B helped them out a lot on their electro tracks?
I've got the same thing as Tolstoyed, I like some U2 songs but I detest the product 'U2'. Including Messiah Bono's winin' & wankin'
