My dad talks crap about IDM all the time.

He says it's the exact kind of music that the KGB and CIA
used to weaken people's minds etc. :)

it doesnt surprise me that people that didn't grow up w/
this music can appreciate it.. if they can like jazz or
classical they can surely appreciate autechre or
squarepusher etc..

one of my friend's dad had groove armada

my mum says "why is there no singing? its boring and
horrible"

my dad says "whats that? i thought it was the washing
machine stuffing up" (in response to ae-parhelic triangle)

but my girlfriend likes ae and afx and boc and my music and
stuff.. and she introduced me to kmfdm and such. . does that
count?

my step dad liked squarepusher-feed me wierd things, big
loada, and some autechre (i think tri repetae+maybe chiastic
slide) when i played them at his house...

my parents seem pretty okay with it too

Both of my parents hate this kind of music........they say
it sounds like a 4 year old playing drums...I think to
myself damn that 4 year old is drumming pretty damn fast!

My Girlfriend likes some of AFX and BoC even if she won't
say it upfront, but sometimes when I go over to her house
she is playing MHTRTC all loud.

My dad says he likes the music i listen to but I think he's
just bullshittin. He normally listens to blues and soft
jazz.

My mom likes the more melodic stuff (On, flim, Heliospan,
Alberto, Eggshell,...)
She also likes some Dj shadow, Moby.
It could be a lot worse. :)

what's wrong with dj shadow? he doesn't carry a stigma like
moby's.. in fact he carries none

my dad said that the SAW2 CD1 TRK3 was 'absolutely
beautiful'

There's nothing wrong with Dj Shadow (Endtroducing is one of
my all time favorites). And stigma or not, I quite like some
Moby work to. I don't care what I'm 'supposed' to listen to.

So my earlier post was just a little summing up of what
songs my mom like from my collection.
