june 9th?! but... but... that's like 4 months away :-(

Why do they always have to announce albums so early? Waiting
can be so frustrating... they could have told us this much
later.

For once... just once... i would like to read an
announcement for a new album that said it was going to be
released tomorrow! So you can get all excited, and go buy it
the next day.

Now this announcement is getting me all excited... and i
have to wait for 4 months... grmbl!

yeah but then what have you got to look forward to? Someone
once gave me a tape with an album i was waiting for to be
released... and whilst i did ofcourse enjoy it... the actual
release-date of the album was a huge anti-climax :-/

As painful as it's going to be - i'd rather wait. I'm
already looking forward to june 9th now :-D It's going to be
a huge climax!

patience is a virtue... I never used to wait for albums to
be released if I could download them, but now I relize how
much more rewarding it is for me personally to wait and buy
the release... it's makes it so much sweeter when I actually
hear it for the first time

The feeling of opening a CD and listening to it while
looking at the artwork is irreplacable.

I get goose bumps.

i must say i was a tad disappointed by amnesiac when i
listened to it for the first time (its day of release). i
laid down on my bed and put my headphones on. i thought the
tracks didn't flow well together and that thom's vocals
utterly ruined "i might be wrong", their best song since
debuting "how to disappear completely" in 1998. while i
still prefer the live version of that song to the studio
version, i've come to enjoy amnesiac a lot more, including
its flow.

i waited till the day of release for both amnesiac and kid a
(and most albums since 1999 actually) but since rh albums
seem to pop up online 3 months early and i have to dodge a
million threads about how amazing/shit it is, maybe i'll
just listen to this one in advance. it's not like i won't be
buying it the day it comes out anyway.

i hope so to... :-... but i'm not really worried, their last
3 albums haven't exactly dissapointed me.

Altough amnesiac took a long time to get into... i had the
same problem travis decribes... when you first hear it, it
just doesn't seem to flow at all. I was afraid that
after all the hype it was actually nothing more than some
Kid A leftovers... but a few hours later i realised how
wrong my first impression was :-) Brilliant cd by a
brilliant band.

I also have fond memories for BUYING the release ON the day
it comes out.

Before DL'ing and even the internet, I used to call friends
and get a ride to the record store the DAY OF a
release...Even used to ride my bike to the store if I didnt
get a ride. Just the anticipation and complete anxiousness
of it all.

I have lost those feelings alot since I have discovered
WINMX...Kinda sad really...oh well=(
If I DL an album and I love it, I want and will buy it. I
enjoy the artwork and any/all liner notes. Also being able
to hold the real thing is nice.

"!

:-D :-D :-D!
Exactly! That's exactly how i feel! No downloaded track can
even come close to this feeling!

(especially if Stanley Donwood is responsible for the
artwork ;-))

I bought both Kid A and Amnesiac on the day them came out...
I remember being really blown away with Kid A and
underwhelmed with Amnesiac... and it's still like that, I
guess. There's some tracks I've never been able to get into
on that one. Some brilliant ones, but it's hit and miss to
me.

Knives Out made me long for the days when the guitar was
their weapon of choice!

''Knives Out made me long for the days when the guitar was
their weapon of choice! ''

And maybe it is on the new one, I dunno... haven't heard any
of the material yet. I think I'll look into it though.

From Q magazine.....

"On Kid A we were in a bad, paranoid place,2 says guitarist
Ed O'Brien ."Now,it's fucking brilliant.There's space and
sunshine and energy in the songs, and you haven't heard
energy from us in a longs time.
"I don't think we've ever felt so self-assured in the
studio,"says Selway."this time no shit hit the fan.And
Thom's voice has been incredable.Thats the stand out element
for me.He's reminded us that he's in a league of his own."
"You know that time when bands beggin to swagger, like when
the Stones got in a groove from '68 to '73?In the last two
years,I think we've done that,"says O'Brien."To me,this
record feels like the culmination of the best bits of The
Bends,Ok Computer,Kid A and Amnesiac."
"We wan't people to hear it," adds Selway."Maybe in the past
we haven't pursued that route that route and the music
hasn't reached as many people as it could. This time,it
warrants some kind of attention.
-----Q Magazine.

Sounds different.

I downloaded both Kid A and Amnesiac before release.

I can identify with those who download an album early and
then have feel a sort of anti-climax after doing so, because
the sense of anticipation has been destroyed. That happened
to me with Amnesiac.

Didn't happen with Kid A though because I had the
anticipation of seeing them live in Warrington on the
release date instead.

I bought Kid A the next morning, but I still haven't bought
Amnesiac. I keep meaning to but at the last minute a little
voice keeps telling me that I should buy something new
instead.

shame on you, though that's pretty common for people who
download albums. "oh it's old now." that's why good albums
don't sell as well as they should...

Amnesiac was the last album I illegally downloaded. In fact,
bar a Mazzy Star track, they were last mp3s I illegally
downloaded full stop.
