the pianist won BAFTA's for both best director (Roman
Polanski) and best film!

i thought some dumb mainstream (chicago etc) movie would win
it

anyone else seen this amazing film?

didn't like it?

i thought it was an amazing piece of work, it's one of the
few films where i actually felt what the character was
feeling...

and no it isn't mainstream, Gangs of New York and Chicago
are mainstream

hmm, i see it as money thrown away, it is magnificent but i
dislike a story
i saw all this too many times and there are lots of cliches
inhtere

im not going to watch it again...

and i really dont see difference between gangs of new york
and this one

it is filmed beautiful, but disgusting to watch

well disgusting things happened, what did you expect? i must
admit it was hard to watch at times but i think it was an
important story told well. Its probably a film i won't watch
again but one i'm glad i've seen.

of course its not mainstream, can you see the majority of
people wanting to see the Pianist? or Requim for a Dream
(also an amazing film)

its mainstream by money spent

i didnt expect something like this from polanski
is almost like watching the schindlers list in colors
i mean if the story was about the pianist, there could be
more music involved or something-not tje jews issue
well im glad i saw it, but i really wasnt impressed

dont compare it with requiem, im sure youre wrong, requiem
is a great film

glass eater what are you on about? i said Requim was an
excelent film and i didn't compare them. I was assiciating
it because both films are depressing and not films the
majority of people would enjoy.

the pianist is an amazing film, especially in how it shows
the subject matter without ever being sentimental. it simply
showed that the holocaust was a game of chance, your
survival was really out of your control. beautiful movie.

of the earth, worse then Hitler even. We'd be spitted on by
everyone and assraped in jail for the rest of our lives, but
cos he's some hot shot director he could just get away with
it. Bah.
