VERY realistic, wish he had some better things to draw though. That so-called 'perfect baby' looks like the type of perfect baby Hitler envisioned.

Well i considder myself to be quite developed, but nothing close to this guy!
I ordered the book a few days ago on amazon. i can tell you if its any good when i've read it. but i have high hopes!
but untill then, if you havent read BETTY EDWARDS! DO IT!! i owe like 60% of all i can do today to those simple little practices she describes! so get into Betty Edwards! This guy was just the next step for me, as i want to get the masters technique!

a good trick of drawing is actually illustrated in my avatar. everyone can see its a picture of me, but its only two colours! the mind creates the rest! thats why, when drawing, dont create something you dont see like details in an eye and such. if an eye appears to be black, draw it black, dont lie. thats a key to realism.

you are right there... drawing something realistic can be incredibly hard, because you tend to draw what you think you've seen, and now what you actually see ;-)
But still... that kind of realism doesn't really interest me anymore. I can appreciate those drawings, and the artists surely has great skills...
But if i want such a realistic picture, i just take a photograph ;-) I think when drawing it's more interesting to use your imagination and create something on paper that can't be seen in the real world.
Only my peronal opinion though :-)

Surrounded! I actually agree with you, probably more than you think. But i want to learn the realism part because it helps your creativity, cause you can do more!
Van gogh and picasso where wery exspressive, but they both learned how to draw realistically, before moving on to the exspressive part. But i have a feeling you can do it allready so!
are you familiar with betty edwards? my guess is you are.
Also, realistic drawing is rated high in tests of how fitted you are to join a creative education of some sorts, so...

Glass eater: About your art.
I like it! and i wouldnt say it if i didnt mean it. But if you want some constructive critisism, i would be happy to give it to you. I like those Egg drawings. theyre sickening and wery detailed. But i feel, that when you try to portray the human face, your proportions are a little askew? I dont know if this is something you want to do on purpouse, but if it isnt, try flipping the picture around, or looking at it in a mirror, and you will see if things askew. i find it generally good to do this with all pictures you paint/draw. But your sense of detail and exspressiveness is wery developed. =) good work.

how is that "odd" really? Do you think it's logical that if you know how to manipulate pictures on the computer you should also know how to make pencil drawings? This reasoning strikes me as odd.

i was only teasin' ya. i'm not sure why i said it that way, but it was nearly 4am in the morning. basically i was just getting at the fact that even though some people are quite talented with physical art as well as digital, i am not. i've taken classes and such, but just can't ever get the hang of it. i've got these images in my head, but when i try to draw them they don't turn out right

I dont know if i mentioned, but i only admire the two for their technique. someone i like totally in style and exspressiveness is predictally GIGER. He's the closest i have to an idol.
