Okay I'm in the market for an mp3 player. Here are the
things i'm looking for in terms of buying:

(most important listed first)

1. Space (how many mp3s can it hold)
2. Power (how often do you have to change the batteries?
Does it use special hard to find batteries? Is it
rechargeable?)
3. Size (smaller the better, but only as small as it fits
the above requirements)
4. Looks (its true, I'm sucker for cool looking devices)
5. Price (Lets stay below the $500 range)

I was reading about those awhile back, I heard they're
great, but only thing is they are huge. I really dont want
anything the size of a CD player.

AudioKey

1. 2/5

-only 32 mb built in. you definately need to buy a MMC
card...128 will do.

2. 3/5

-Requires 2 AAA / LR03 batteries (supplied).

3. 5/5

-Nokia size

4. 5/5

-see picture (link)

5. 5/5

-100 $ isn't a lot of money for a mp3-player...

Okay i've done some research and it looks like I might get
an I-Pod (10gig).

The only bad part is that I must buy a $50 firewire
connection, which wouldn't be that bad if I owned more
firewire things.

I got my mum a Zillion player for xmas so she could listen
to such greats as Cliff Richard at the gym.
It was £99 and has an internal storage of 64mb with the
option of expandability thru mem cards. I thought it was a
good player, but wanted to try something different for
myself.

i got a Beatman Flash, virtually same specs as the Zillion
player, and looks funky to boot. I did some net research tho
cos I wanted to make sure I could upload files too (the
zillion can) - soon after I got it tho I found you couldn't
upload MP3's because of copy protection laws (?!) (it's in
tiny tiny print in the manual)

I was pretty pissed -I use an older Pc for the net, I like
to keep my workhorse machine free of net connections - so I
wanted to d/l MP3's on the old PC and u/l them on my good
one (the old one has no other means of transfering big
files, no Zip or cd burner) - so with the Beatman Flash i
was stuffed.

Until... I figured if i changed the MP3 file extension i
could fool the Beatman, and it worked for a while and then
the damn thing just froze up.

I subsequently find out that you're only meant to u/l
recorded voice wavs on the Beatman and it's not meant to d/l
other filestypes apart from MP3's.

I guess my bottom line is DONT buy a Beatman Flash.
Considert the Zillion. It's had very good reviews, mind you
so did the Beatman - I was just pissed you can't upload
MP3's or use it to store other file types, which btw the
Zillion has absolutely no problem with.

Oh yeah, the Zillion's tiny as well, about as big as a match
box and almost as light.

ipod or creative zen are probably best bet
http://www.nomadworld.com/products/jukebox_zen/

ps you should be able to get a firewire card much cheaper
than $50
