New Beatles album!

I just got the new Rolling Stone... first time I read it in
a while. The Beatles are on the cover, so it would be insane
not to get it.

New Album

Album that never was

Spector-less Let it Be

FIVE HUNDRED (!!!) Beatles tapes recovered

New Let it Be, sans Phil Spector's 'Wall of Sound', is on
the way, as nature intended... it'll be great to hear Let it
Be Paul's way... although I think I may be the only
Beatlemaniac on earth that LOVES Phil's production on that
album... especially The Long and Winding Road and Let it Be.

Not only that, but 500 fucking tapes filled with unreleased
Beatle music was found- this is kind of old news... but I
hope they pick out all the highlights and do something with
it.

And I hope it ALL gets bootlegged.

The Anthology set is coming out on DVD, too. Thank ya
Jesus.

Good times ahead for Beatles fans, good times... all they
need to do now is remix and remaster all the albums (like
they did with the mega-great Yellow Submarine Songtrack) and
I'll be content.

Nonono!! Beatles are AWESOME!!!! I am currently reading a
book called "Revolution: The Making of the Beatles White
Album". Its so good! It has chapters on all of the songs,
the people who took part in the album, what was happening in
1968, even a chapter on Charles Manson--great book; I
reccommend it to... every signle person everywhere. :)

I saw that Rolling Stone at a few stores in Richmond, but
didnt get it! :| BNow I think I will! ;D

I've already got copies of 2 of the "Get Back" session
bootlegs.

Not great by any means, but they're certainly genuine...

I've had them for over a year now. I'd assumed they were
widespread.

You'd have to be a real Beatlemaniac (I fit the bill,
obviously) to really appreciate their studio wanking
bootlegs! There's lots of them already out there, but now
there's gonna be... a helluva lot more. I can't wait.

The new Let it Be is the real prize... that's over 3 decades
in the making.

agree Mr J Worth.

"Why can't we just leave them in the past? Sigh"

i kinda have to agree with jarworski and jonesy. I dont
care at all about the beatles, and the early albums are
hideously bad, the later stuff is decent but nothing more.
and you can't say that oh they were so original, they really
weren't all they did was copy off american blues, jazz,
country music (chuck berry, little richard etc.) there
original lyrics have the WORST lyrics ever too(excluding
mainstream pop right now) : she loves you yeah yeah yeah
(repeat X 1000000) for just one example. ahh enough beatles
talk for me I dont want to enrage beatles enthusiasts any
more.

''and you can't say that oh they were so original''

Name any innovation in rock, anything at all... 9.5 times
out of 10 you can attribute it to them.

I mean GOOD innovation. Not rapping over power chords or
using a DJ just for the sake of a DJ. Or screaming
unintellige gibberish.

And I have to agree with Macho Man Paul Savage when he says
Let it Be is one of their weakest... but a dud for the
Beatles would be just about any other band's best work. And
this version should be an improvement over the original.

i agree, there are books written on all the little things
they did that no one in pop music ever even approached
before... i think it's a list of 60 things... somewhere in
there.

Even stupid little things like the first ''fade-in'' to
start a track... on Eight Days a Week. Things we take for
granted now, they did first. First feedback, first backwards
lyrics, first sitar use, whatever... it's totally asinine to
call them unoriginal, in terms of innovation they blow every
''IDM'' artist talked about here out of the water.

And combine it with perfect pop sensibility... what more do
you need?

A Day in the Life, the last song on Sgt. Pepper, and
probably the best. Has that long mintue long piano chord at
the end, the big orchestra orgasm, the marijuana dream
sequence in the middle, the backwards secret message at the
end, the lyrics taken straight from the paper John was
reading at the time, the veiled references to drugs...
pretty unoriginal. *rolls eyes at MachineofGod

Yeah I was just about to say I found it..I"m listening to it
now, I love that song.

"....Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
Somebody spoke and I went into a dream"

Man I love the Beatles, on the oldies station here they
totally prasie them which is great.

"Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert
Hall."

* rolls eyes with ya*

I don't make many topics about them! But I'll be the first

someone praises them.

If it was physically possible, I'd probably assault their

Tits, I downloaded a hip hop cover of ''Flying'' from
Magical Mystery Tour once... I think it said ''DMX mix'' or
something. It was just the basic track with big beats over
it, maybe a rap, I can't remember.

Was I bein' played? Do you know of any hippy-hopper that's
covered the Beatles? It was kind of cool, but could have
been just some fan remix.

news to me... sounds really strange. the only
hip-hop/beatles stuff i'm aware of is one time "back in the
day" i was watching an mtv interview w/ q-tip and he started
singing "girl". also the roots' very first experiment with
sampling was "hey bulldog" and julian lennon wouldn't give
them clearance, so that version exists only in bootleg form
(i have the mp3 if you want to hear it, it's pretty
killer).

anyway i wasn't thinking of hip-hop really... more classical
stuff, some jazz, avant garde sort of things

offline Ophecks from Nova Scotia (Canada) on 2003-02-13 10:58 [#00553949]
Points: 19190 Status: Moderator | Show recordbag

I don't really like the classical-avant garde thing... I've
been listening to Music for 18 Musicians by Steve Reich, or
at least trying to, and I got a bunch of John Cage from
Amonbrune (R.I.P) and wasn't impressed... and the only time
I like Glass is when he's collaborating with one Richard D.
James, otherwise, bleh... what can I say, I like the pop.

Only jazz I've listened to recently is old school Miles
Davis, like the '40s. Boplicity... I like it better than
more artsy jazz.

What would you recommend? Other than these guys. I haven't
checked out too much of the avant garde side, just the big
names. I just figured if I didn't like the big ones, I
wouldn't like the lesser knowns.

why'd amonbrune leave again? p.s. can you PLEASE email me
your screencapture(s) of the amonbrune "room 2" etc.
madness, i've been dying to see those for months (since i
indirectly inspired what he did)...

you're correct in that there's a ton of other stuff besides
cage and reich, like IDM that's just the tip of the
iceberg/most famous of the bunch. there's also stuff that's
a lot less academic, rock sort of stuff that i could upload
for you to check out, i think you'd really like it.

He's alive, he's just... ignoring everyone. He's on Soulseek
all the time, he even downloaded some Snares off me once,
but wouldn't respond to my IM. So I dunno.

As for the screen capture, ask Jedi Chris... I wasn't around
for that bruhaha, but he saved an HTML page and showed it to
me via Hotmail, I had a good laugh and then deleted it
(bah... I should have saved it, could have been worth money
