dodgyness of downloading...

overnight i downloaded the new Turin Brakes album, to see
whether or not its worth buying. I just renamed all of the
files, sorted them into the right directory, put them in a
winamp playlist and hit play.... it just played 1 second of
silence then moved onto the next track. I opened them in
sonic foundry and only 1 second of silence showed up, yet
all the attributes were that of a full mp3 at 128kps.

some work done by the record company?

this album is to be released on the 3rd of march (so
unreleased so far) and its on Anvil records.

It's known that Kazaa has been infiltrated by the Record
Industry, who will do things like that--The file sizes are
the same, but they are either filled with silence, or with
some preachy message about Piracy.

Yo Motherfucking HO HO

How was the Anal sex? I get the opposite problem--I think
I'm downloading some hot man-on-man action, only to find
I've downloaded an episode of "Sabrina the Teen Witch."
Goddam Motherfucking Shithole Cunts.

Another favourite is for Preachy Christian groups to name
their Anti-Gay Sermons with scintillating titles--It's hard
to jerk off to Father Rectum telling you that tight asses
aren't to be violated, and to go fuck a bitch in the
stead....argh! The Frustration!!

i sometimes feel guilty for downloading music and not buying
it,
but i dont want to buy all.
thats too expensive, and then i feel stupid cause i easily
could have burtn it.
burning is better anyway cause you make the selection...
so i chose to only buy perfect albums...
thats a compromise that suits me well :)

I have a theory on how to legitimise mp3s....most of the
money one pays for a CD goes to people who weren't directly
involved in the music making process. So, if you have an
arrangement whereby you download an album in mp3 format, and
then pay the individuals (who are still alive) who were
directly involved in the music, then you would only end up
paying a fraction of the price of a CD--and how could the
record companies legitimitely complain?

One day the record companies will all be fucked. They won't
have a leg to stand on. Artists will just buy a computer,
link to a website (which will take far less money off them
than a record company) and then people will download albums
for like, one third the price of a cd. They'll make enough
money to tour and shit off this because all that cash will
go to the artist, not get filtered through HMV and Epic for
example.

At least, I think so. This has been mooted since the early
80's now, still no sign of it.

could buy tracks every week!!

they're still aroond. Get rid of em all, they're not fucking

yeah, if EVERY artist just up and left their record
companies....

what do artists get from record companies?

did u hear about the liquidation of nude records, and how it
affected Lowgold?

Yeah. The distribution of digital music is something the
companies are going to have to adapt to, not the other way
round.

I didn't hear of that...

What most artists get from record companies is studio costs
covered, touring expenses etc. But most artists can build
their own studios these days. You can get sponsored for tour
support. Put the money from your mp3's fund back into your
art if needs be.

Of course, piracy would have to be completely destroyed :D
