*opens parenthesis* i bought zappa's 'we're only in it
for the money' today, after getting newer albums like 'sheik
yerbouti' and 'one size fits all' (which are excellent)...
what can i say, a lot of reviews were praising it as one of
the best... and it sounded really deceiving to me. a lot
sounds like filler, or annoying (too slow? the voices that
seem to just spoil the emotional value some tracks do
have?), and the sound quality is really bad (i had some mp3s
and they sound way better than the cd! since it's mastered
from vinyl edition i guess, concentration moon is slower,
etc.)

i may get to like it after some listens, like it did with
the mp3s i had, but right now i do not want... because of
track four, 'mom & dad'. i stand very sad tracks, but not
when they're that realistic, UNFAIR and sarcastic... it
almost got me depressed, at least it broke my afternoon.

then to cheer me up, i went to my mp3 library on random - it
falled on peter gabriel's 'into your eyes'.
well this track must well be one of the most soothing ones i
know, when you're sad!! the live version had been my first
'fav ever' track when i started discovering music, then i
got a bit bored of it. now that i listened to it in such
conditions, it gets back on my top 10 fav songs - i don't
mind if you hate this track or peter gabriel, it just felt
like this to me and we all get our own feelings about each
thing... *closes parenthesis*

this said, now that i think about it...
i never got depressed by listening to NIN or something like
that, because it's always too blurry or vague or dreamy or
stylised... maybe it's only because it's realistic that it
touched me (it is).
but is it that it's music that made me feel it that sad? or
its unfairness (i can stand be told about horrible things,
but not unfair things - what's paradoxal is that i don't
think justice exists so unfair wouldn't exist either...)?
i don't

know.

all i know is that i must live in a dreamy bubble, getting
to see everything like in a dream, even horrible things, to
stand them, and of course it hurts a lot when it
pops... maybe i should quit with this attitude, but i don't
want to.

don't we all live in a bubble, even a thin one?

this is one muddled thread.

what are you trying to say..?

are you quoting yourself on Zappa..?
was that recent?

I'm confused.

Anus_Presley > hmm... i rather love him!
but that record just made me sick...

i'm relistening to it now (maybe i'll skip 'mom & dad',
maybe not): most of the time, first impressions aren't the
good ones.
