I wish he would spend his time on the new nin album instead
of the soundtrack. He's doing the Tapeworm project too with
Maynard, i guess the next nin album will be out in 2008 or
is that a bit optimistic?

anyone know if the soundtrack will be released on cd?

i can't remember if it was someone at this board or
digitalnoise.org, but richard devine told a concert goer
that trent's not been working on nin or tapeworm much cos
he's been so heavily involved w/ doom III. this is like what
happened in 1996 between the quake score and the manson
album he produced (nin went on the backburner).

there may be a separate cd for the doom III music but right
now the only music that's been leaked has been VERY ambient,
so it might not--believe it or not--be popular enough to
merit a separate cd release. the music won't be playable off
the cd-rom by audio devices because it's encoded into mp3's,
not playable cd tracks.

I heard Trent is only doing the audio for doom III. He was
going to do the soundtrack for it but abandoned it to work
on other works like Zack De La Rocha's solo album. Now the
makers of the game are looking for someone else to do it.
He also hinted about a new NIN album to come out in the fall
in Rolling Stone (but didnt mention which year)

welcome to the board :) nice to see another nin fanatic who
pays attention to details.

you're right, he is working w/ zack and he did say he wants
to put a nin album out soon and spend less time
(over)producing it (make it more immediate).

but trent is doing music AND sounds for doom III. he did
some music in the 10 minute doom III trailer which you can
download, and there's some very ambient music (very little,
but some, which is worth noting) in the leaked alpha version
of doom III.

id software is looking not for a musician but for another
chief sound engineer (www.theninhotline.net posted about
this a few weeks ago if you want to verify). i guess this
person would be a project leader like trent but i'm not
sure.
